Hi Im still after a media player after deciding against the Kiss Dp-600.

Im quite interested in either Tvix 4000p, Tvix 5000A or the Helios X5000.

I have a couple of questions If I may,I read about the Tvix's DVI connector on here and green speckles etc, on their home page(FAQ's) it says that the conector is a DVI-I output not DVI-D, where do you find a DVI-I 2 HDMI cable ?, my TV doesn't have DVI, can you use a DVI-D to HDMI cable?

bit worried about the fan issue with 4000p, like the design of that better than the 5000a. I read its just a few and not across the board. but still a worry. any updates on this yet.

I take it any external HDD will connect to this Ive just bought a WD myBOOK, will this work ok attached via usb?

thank you for taking the time to read this and look forward to your replys.

The green speckles have nothing to do with the >DVI tupe used. It was
caused by interference and is solved in the latest models by isolating the
cable...

You can use a DVI to HDMI cable but it causes the picture to shift slightly to
the left or right... Nothing to hard though and it doesn't happen to
everyone, just a lot...

The cooler is an issue only on the 4000 model. Considering the low price
difference, it should not be a problem to pick the 5000 model, unless you
like the cube design of the 4000 better... Then it's a matter of fixing the
cooler (replace) or disconnect it "if it makes noise"

In general all drives should work. We have seen issues with "some" brands
because of their special ways of loading (none generic). I have not tested
the WD MyBook so I can't say... It's a little risk, but it would be the same
for all players...

Hope that helps you in some way :-)
Welcome to MPC...

so all new models shipped cables are isolated.

so I can use a DVI-D 2 HDMI even though TVix DVI output is DVI-I

Price doesnt trouble me, I prefer the design of the 4000p

Yes, unless it's really old stock though the TViX make good sales so stock
is usually fresh...

Yes, DVI-I(nterface) is for both DVI-D(igital) and DVI-A(nalog).

The M4000P does not have the green speckles issue as far as I know.

I own the 4000P and a MYBOOK 400GB. It works perfectly, it`s switches off
as you shutdown the 4000 and startsup of course. I use the PAL 2.05 firmware. Drive is configured with 1 partition and wil hold 372 GB of data. HD works even with 1080P.

Recently i conected a DVI-D -> HDMI (2 meters) cable to a MIRAI 32" 720P tv and it works great. no problems at all. you can get it in Holland for 29.95 € or even a cheaper one for 12,95 € at te HANDYMAN shop.
