Hello all,

I have 2 problem with my TVIX-5000 :

1. When I play some AVI they start, I see the picture but no sound and after 4-5 sec they stop to play

2. I recorded my holiday with my Sony Camera, I have 3 mini-dvd that I finalize (that make compatible to DVD Player) so I copy all the disk to 3 different folder in VIDEO folder of my TVIX. When I click on some VOB file , the movie start but about 30 sec/1 min of play I get something like someone press the FastFoward button and continu to play but my sound is not sync anymore with the movie and with some VOB the movie stop to play...

You all understand my problem ? heh I'm trying to do my best in english :)

I have firmware 2.1.0

Thank

Why don't you "rip"the disk instead of copying.
Something like with DVD Shrink, make ISO files of them and see if that
helps. Probably something SONY does is not accepted by the player...

Where do these AVI files come from?
Load it into MPEG4Modifier and see if it uses Packed Bitstream, then unpack them.

if that is not the case, get GSPOT and post an image of a file here.
(Load the file in GSPOT and post a screenshot)

Download VirtualdubMOD (must be MOD version) and load the file.

You may get a warning about the audio stream, if you do, click NO.

Click on Video and choose direct stream copy, then save the new avi.

VirtualdubMOD will rewrite the avi header and may correct something that may be preventing it from playing.

So, the TViX M-4000P can't handle files with packed bitstream? Never?

I try another AVI that work in the TVIX and I open the two file in Gspot to see what going on..

The screen at the right work but the left one no.. seem a problem to have 2 channel in the AVI...the other is 96 mhz / 1 channel...

maybe it's that...

You'll be pleased to know i have got the file to play :D

As mentioned before, load into VirtualdubMOD and you should get the pop-up warning about the audio & asking if you want the header to be re-written.

Before i said click NO, but for this file you need to choose YES. Then click on 'video' and select 'direct stream copy'. Save the file as a new avi and this file will then play ok.

Then reason i said to choose NO when i posted earlier was that alot of files i have problems with relate to the audio buffer size being zero, but this was not the problem with this file.

Just about all the avi files i have had problems with, whether it be sync issues or the video not playing smoothly, have been corrected using virtualdubMOD.

As mentioned before, most files i've had i have choosen the option not to rewrite the header, then click video->direct stream copy->save avi. But if this doesn't work, i then choose yes to re-write the header, and they usually play ok.
