avi setting??

I play the some avi file, press the "Fast Forward" and then press "Play". The media is still "Fast Forward" but the sound is normal "Play". Sometimes the machine will be out of control (no response when I use the remote control even the "power" buttom). How to solve it?? How about the setting or codec of the avi file is suitable for iamm ntd36hd?? Which software are you used to change media file to avi format??

Very disappointed it only play well on some avi files. But it play the .ts and .mpg media files well.
