View Full Version : FTP disconnects :(
I'm having problem to keep the ftp connection with the 508
1st movie transfer @1090kbs is fine
2nd drops the speed to 800kbs and then the player disconnects ... :(
Any remedy to that ?
Thanks
Use smartftp...
Discinnects happen with using others like WS_Ftp... :-)
For me on my DP-500 changing the switch solved the problem.
Maybe check your network settings on your pc.

I'm using smart ftp ....
I also can't re connect without re booting the player
What switch ak. ?
hi lifeisfun,
I am corrently using a D-Link DES-3226S which is working, before I used a D-Link DES-3224+ which had problems. I had the same problem on my other PCs, but setting the nework type and speed to 100 Full Duplex mode solved it for them. After I put a cheap switch in front of the DES-3224 it worked perfectly.
Maybe you should change the switch or try to ftp from your pc to an other to see if your PC is right?

Hi ak.
I'm using Toshiba server with built in switch, and only
the 508 is having problems
Looks like the network port is crashing on the 508 ...
For me FTP disconnects always happen when downloading from Kiss to PC(never uploading) even using just a cross cable.
But don't happen when "downloading" from Kiss to PC, using Kiss samba client and cp command in order to do it.
Hope this helps.
hi,
is anybody of you owning an managable switch? maybe a sniff from a disconnect could also be usefull.
Please could you also provide fw releases? and switches?
cu ak.
I'm using Magnia SG20 server/switch
ET latest firmware ( 1250 char.ver)
sorry I ment KISS fw.
cu ak.
That's it ET fw :) latest PAL version ( changed to NTSC)
Perhaps changing the nework card would help as somebody posted here:

think this an other possible reason for breaking up the connection between pc and player but this would mean you have to run a realtek chipset on Linux. I think kiss is using an other one on the dp.

PS: if you like to just send me a icq or msn message than I can explain this a little bit and verify me theory together with you.
ak., I'm writing like woodpecker  so this would be
horrible experience for you !
I'm also unclear why the HD keeps spinning upon closing the FTP session ...
I presume that it doesn't matter if I use the FTP when the unit is in stand by mode - right ?
If the FTP session crashes I have to reboot but if I close it without incident - VERY rare
than the HD is spinning and spinning till I turn the unit on and back to stand by...
You can ftp without any problems if in standby mode...
About the stand by, i never tried and i doubt KiSS will offer a solution.
It does not support adjusted firmware with FTP :-)
Good point ! - Still don't like it
