Hi all,
I recently purchased Ellion HMR-350H with Ellion WiFi USB module and WD7500AAKS HDD drive.
I also flashed the last FW from Ellion website - AS_0805_058.

However, there is an anoying problem with my HMR- sometimes it fails to shut down and freezes.
Normally, when I pres the red shutdown button on my remote, the BLUE light on the unit goes VIOLET after some 10seconds and after another 10seconds, it goes RED and the HDD stops spinning and HMR is in standby mode.
Sometimes, the unit gets stuck in the second phase, so the VIOLET light is on, the HDD is spiinig, the unit does not respond to any remote control commands and the only way is to switch it off by the rear POWER switch, but with this, I lose time setting, etc.

Any ideas what might be the problem? Did some of you encounter the same behaviour? May it be connected with the use of WiFi module (but it is original from Ellion)?

Any andvice or solution is welcome!!!

Today, I received reply fom Ellion support:
================================================== =
Dear Customer,
We guess it"s hardware problem and afraid that we can"t support directly with this H/W problem.
Please contact the shop or dealer where you bought it.

Regard

Before sending it back to my dealer, can you confirm that NOBODY has ever encountered such problem and that I am the only one? In that case, Ellion is right and it might be a HW problem. But I seriously need your feedback, guys!

Thanks.

Sounds like a hardware issue... Never heard of this issue before so i suggest
following Ellion's advice. Likely they cam across the issue before which is why
they recommend sending it back...

Hello Rumcajs, I have a very similar Problem - the HDD spins down, but the light stays violet and the unit (HMR350H) does not wake up from this "standby" any more, unless I switch it completely off and on again. Just a few minutes ago I wrote to the Ellion support - let's see what they'll answer. I personally believe it's a bug within the latest "NDAS wireless timer record" Firmware.

Me to.
I have also encounter this problem once (or maybe 2 times) ,but i (power)switch it off.
After 30sec. i turn the (power)switch on the Ellion, and it turn to be normal working.
This occur some month's ago with a 'older' FW.
Before you go back to the dealer, you can try this, maybe the Ellion resets it's own.
Give it a try.

Hi all,
yesterday, I removed the Ellion WiFi adapter. Since that time, Ellion switches off normally, so it might be a bug in the latest NDAS FW, which appears only in connection with the use of WiFi module.
It reminds me of the behaviour of my laptop, which sometimes also fails to shutdown MS Windows when connected to wifi (or it lasts really long time) and hangs in the "Shutting down..." screen.
Something similar might be the problem with ellion.
Will continue to observe the behaviour.

Hi all,
I confirm, that removing the Ellion WiFi USB adapter resolved the issue. Since that, it din't happen again.
I sent info to Ellion about this F/W bug for further development, but no response.
I hope that this info might be usefull to other HMR users.

Hi I have a 700hmr and i am having the same problem when i press the power button on the remote control the ellion box goes to a purple colour and stays like that, the hard disk is still spinning, and it never shuts down the box and i have to use the power switch on the rear and then it forgets the time and picks a random one when i next boot. I dont have the wifi usb adaptor so there must be another reason!! Anyone else have the problem and any answers?
cheers JJ
