Hi
I recently upgraded the drives on my ReadyNAS Duo and removed and then inserted a 500gb hard disk into my Popcorn A-110.
Unfortunately I cannot work out how to format it from Windows XP - I want to use it as an external disc as I use the ReadyNAS for torrents.
Could someone tell me what I should be doing? I can see the drive but the volume is listed as 0 bytes.
Thanks
James

Go to the setup on your Popcorn player, there you can format it, but then it will be formatted EXT3. Standard XP doesn't recognize that, so you have to install the EXT3 driver. http://www.fs-driver.org/

Hi
Thanks for the advice! But how would I format it as NTFS?

Cheers

You're welcome.
The only way to format NTFS is connecting it from the USB- slave on your Popcorn to your PC. Right click on your drive at the XP PC and chose format in the submenu.

Hi
Unfortunately this does not seem to work - clicking format does absolutely nothing. The 'properties' option also says capacity 0 bytes.
The disc is being recognized by the PCH as I can see the file structure through my TV.
What should I try next ..!?
Thanks
James

Ok it seems to me you need to clear the partition and make a new one.
Try this: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B309000&x=13&y=8
