I just got an iobox from Hi-Jack and he mentioned it would be better to run SMB or NFS rather than a media server software programme.I know absolutley nothing about this, could anybody steer me to a tutorial or something that will educate me on how to do this?

SMB is pretty simple. Just share the folder in your PC that you would like ioBox to access. NFS is better but installing an NFS server on your PC is not very simple. I use XP Pro for my NFS Server. Click here for a guide on how to install it - http://www.pixelmagicforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1784 Good luck!

Thats a fairly exstensive tutorial! one more question, i notice in your reply and in the tutorial it only mentions sharing one folder, can you share several? my media is spread over three drives.

You can share as many as you like with NFS but the number of shares you can configure ioBox to have a shortcut to is limited to 5 or 6. Once you have your NFS server running in your PC, ioBox will see all the shared folders. For SMB, I suggest you keep the same workgroup name for both the PC and ioBox.

I have all my media folders already shared on my home network, will the iobox automatically find them when I switch it on without installing media server software?

Sure it will. It did in my case.
