View Full Version : Raidsonic ICYBOX plays everything including BD?
Hi, I just came across another HD-Player claiming to play all current HD formats, the ib-mp309 from Raidsonic.
The specs can be found here http://www.raidsonic.de/en/pages/products/external_cases.php?we_objectID=5523
Data sheet: http://www.raidsonic.de/de/data/data_pdf/icybox/datasheet_ib-mp309_e.pdf
It says "Plays all current High Definition formats - whether streamed, from Blu-ray disc or from elsewhere".
Can anyone confirm this box is really able to play BDs? TIA
I doubt it, especially BD... The unit is based on 1073 Realtek chip (advocate86 is filing for a sample to review) and the realtek SDK as far as we know is not capable yet of handling BD backups (other than raw M2TS files).
Secondly, there's a difference between BD support (JAVA, 2.0, 384MB memory the least, licenses) and BDLite where it loads the M2TS file, subtitle and audio options only.
Knowing IcyBox, they do buy their solutions out of the house so likely will depend on default SDK from realTek mostly. Remains to be seen what the unit can do for real... So far at least DTS downmix is not confirmed (to be added in a future firmware story) and RealTek is not ready for BD playback yet according to our info...
Let's see and not make assumptions or run with marketing placements :-)
Native resolution proper 24p, proper networking, proper ZOOM, proper bookmarks, proper subtitles for MKV, proper interface design... every unit on realTek so far has issues with these and icy Box will deffinately be no different...
what makes you think that box is realtek-based? the website mentions "Sigma Designs EM8635", and the specs sound much like a NMT clone. In fact, I think I remember reading on this forum that the ICYBOX was a NMT incarnation

Oh I c... That's old already...
I was talking about their new model: ICY BOX IB-MP305
