Hi everyone,

I'm new here and today received mij Playon HD mediaplayer. The machine Works great (every filetype) but has a few, in my opion, losses. Maybe someone can answer beneath questions for me? (also posted this question on the regular forum.... before i saw the bug topic)

1] The resolution of the menu. It's is so big. Can this be adjusted?? Now it looks like 724x768?!
2] VIDEO_TS folders will not start automaticly. I have to select te regarding file in the VIDEO_TS folder. Can this be adjusted to auto start VIDEO_TS folder?
3] Color settings?? I can't find them in the settings menu? Are they there??
4] Depth of 1080P movies (MKV, M2TS & WMV) all my movies miss a lot of depth in them.
4B] due tot issues related to 3 and 4 Full-HD movies now looks like normal DVD's

5] The menu (browser) also give slaches (/) and recycle.bin structure. Can this be alimated?
6] Pressing INFO on a movie will not display movie framerate. Like 1920x1080. Now it says HxW = 0x0

Before i had a TVIX 6500A and that one had al the features what is missing in the PlayonHD. I'm having a 52" Philips full-HD TV, With high resolution HDMI cables.

Maybe someone can help me out?

Hope to here from one of you guys!

Thanks in advance!

1 - No. This is one of the points we claim differentiates the real brands from the followers. The menu you see is mostly the default RTK based interface with minor changes. A.C.Ryan will need to work on that...

2 - Many players have this option inside the setup section (smart navigation, auto play folders etc...) I don't remember if the A.C.Ryan has this but if it does, it's inside the setup somewhere. otherwise, it's a feature we recommend adding and surely has been covered in our review.

3 - What color settings? Subtitle colors? BCS? Output color range?
BCS controls are inside the setup. So are subtitles as far as I can remember

4 - RealTek chips claim to be better at video decoding by the ones using them. We dissagree but don't go to deep inside that. We find not only the depth, also the warmth and sharpness are slightly less than on Sigma platforms. But that's just an opinion... Ask 10 people, and everyone will tell something else...

4b - What? You're not making sense at all there...

5 - Nope. One of the comments we we forwarded to A.C.Ryan during review. Belongs to the "default RTK interface annoyances".

6 - All movies or some movies? It could be one of the missing options to come. I don't feel the info is realy usefull anyway on most players, use a PC tool... far better...

We have written a review on the playon where everything from the user side is covered, interface, impressions, good and bad... I have the feeling you haven't read that. :-)

Hi Hi-Jack,

I've written the review! And it was helpfull. Further to my questions i also received some answers from ac-ryan as well. The default RTK interface will be changed in a upcoming firmware release in a few days. Only the data put on the hard disc will be shown.

The charpness of the movies, who looked like dvd's is solved. My videosettings were set to PAL (what i thought was good). Setting it up at 1080P - 60Hz did the job. (didn't look further than my nose was long) Now everything is, as far as i can see, simulair to the Tvix 6500.

The info tool will also be in the next firmware update, so that's solved to.

Autoplay folders is not an option for now they told me. Maybe in the future. (real annoing!!)

The things i like more than the Tvix are.
Booting time. (just 5 sec!!!!!). (Tvix needs almost 50 sec)
Displaying 1080P files directly!! (Tvix takes 15 sec with latest FW).
No rebooting ever (so-far). (Tvix does numbers of bootings on 1080 files.

Again, thanks for your reply and excusses for the double crossing post!
