Well this is not a joke the well known site ThePiratebay.org ( http://thepiratebay.org/ ) gathers money to buy SeaLand - couple of oil mining platforms in the middle of the see that because of some weried twist of poliics after world war 2 become declared as a "independed country".<br />They plan to host their servers there.<br /><br />If you log into their site and click on the banner you will be taken to http://buysealand.com/ site where you can donate for this.<br /><br />The price is 65milion pounds (~100 millions dollars) so I think they will not reach their target but even if they spend this money on servers and such (as well as loweyers :( ) the donation will be well spent ...<br /><br />The Register also run a story on it : http://www.theregister.com/2007/01/12/pirate_bay_buys_island/<br /><br />Click on "Read More" for additional stories!<br>Hi-Jack: Talking about pirates and such...
