View Full Version : How to use Inetbrowser ?
Hi all.
In the specs is written Dune 3.0 is having an Inetbrowser build-in.
I saw with the previous Dunes you had to install extra applications on some system storage (i.e. USB) to use the build-in browser.
There is the URL-button on the RC, but it does nothing so far.
I cannot find any info how to use the build-in browser with Dune 3.0 or where to find those extra-applications.
Anyone else knows how to?
Thanks.

No, 3.0 units do not have the Web Browser application. Since it was basically not used by anyone on 1.0/2.0 units, and the effort needed for porting this application to the new Sigma platform was rather big, it was decided to not support this application in 3.0 units.
The official 3.0 unit specs (see e.g. http://dune-hd.com/hd_players/111-dune-bd-prime-3.0.html) have never mentioned Web Browser application support.
It is not impossible that Web Browser application will be added in future fw versions (depending on users demand for it), but this is currently unknown.
Damned, seems I mixed something up0 here.
Pitty, I was really curious about that.
Hi,
No, 3.0 units do not have the Web Browser application.
Then you should fix this page (http://dune-hd.com/index.php?do=players) also.

@Kat-CeDe
What is your point?
Okay, now I see, the Internet-Logo is shown on all players, old Dunes and the new 3.0.
I`d bet I have read it somewhere before.
So what could the Internetlogo at 3.0 stand for ? - Streaming of known http://streams as described in the manual?
When I bought the unit I also thought it would have some sort of internet interface because my popcorn also has it (Hadn't read all specs). So it would be nice to have it eventually so I can use my YAMJ on this unit, or can we directly go for the Flash Lite 3 solution and make some nice stuff on that platform (in time when it's released)?
Is YAMJ running on Dunes?
UMC isn`t..
No YAMJ isn't supported, would be nice but will use other solutions for the moment.
Okay, would have made me wonder.
Had some talk over at the german Popcorn-forum because of UMC.
They told me the browser of C-200 is part of their system. so even a Webbrowser in Dune would not help to get UMC or YAMJ runnning, as the webbrowser would not be able to access the system below.
Also would love to be able to use YAMJ or UMC with Dune, but this will remain wishful thinking.
Now I know why I was searching for the Inetbrowser.
When looking on site of german distributor Hantz
http://www.hantz.com/ASP/NewProducts/Produkte_3.asp?ProduktID=1196&CID=0 there you can read for Dune Prime 3.0.
Über den eingebauten Browser kann man per Fernbedienung am Fernseher im Internet surfen und IP-TV sowie Internet Radiostationen auf der ganzen Welt abrufen, Torrent Services nutzen uvm.
Translated in short words: With built-in browser you can surf the Intenet via your TV.
Or here in english: http://www.hdi-dune.de/dune_bd_prime_2_0.html
(Yes, link sais Prime 2.0, page however describes 3.0)
Web browser (based on the same engine as used in Mozilla Firefox) for browsing arbitrary Internet sites
From another german forum there are others besides Hantz having the same expectation I had, browsing Inet would be possible as was before with older models.
Okay, it is not HDI`s site, but maybe you want talk to Hantz though.

Well the current ICON browsing is efficient and easy to setup, but it lacks the customization possible with YAMJ that can look very good. Don’t know how it all performs though…
I mainly bought the PRIME 3.0 for his appeal and ability to play HD movies, I did not like the C-200 design and his display. But I like the POPCORN’s interface.
So HDI please add YAMJ support to your “outdated” feature voting page!
