A local dealer (I'm in Montevideo, Uruguay), who's a friend of mine, imported a few K200 and K500 thinking they were both NMT based.

Unfortunately the K500 is a different beast and I'm trying to confugure it without success. The manual that comes withe the player is absolutely useless and there is NO information about this player on the Kaiboer page.
Is somebody using this player?
The firmware works as if it were pre-beta, in a totally unexpected way and I wasn't able to format the internal disc or connect it to the network, nothing at all.

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards
Gustavo

I never seen the player although we did review some NMT models of Kaiboer before... To date, i'm still not aware of the reason why the newer models have not been sent to us but I believe some of the rteason lies within the status of the player. The K-500 was actually released to be a more easy player and more affordable not based on the NMT firmware however, in my experience with many brands (not just Kaiboer), this mostly means "does less and therefore is cheaper"...

Sorry I can't help.

You can find the info for k500 on the Chinese version of a Kaiboer's website:
Here (http://www.hd-tv.cn/Downloads.asp?SmallClassID=106&SmallClassname=Firmware&bigClassname=K500) you can download the latest firmware and here (http://www.hd-tv.cn/shownews.asp?news_id=55) you can read the help article for k500 network configuration.(use the google web translator if you dont understand chinese) I am not sure though if it will be helpful, it might be these k500/k200Plus/k100Plus players have a problem with the networking: on their support page was a question about it:

Will the K500 can not configure the network share when the problem can be solved? There are no plans to solve it?

Hello! K500 does not support network sharing and networking!"

It 's really confusing. You should try yourself. And please let me know how did it go. I was thinking to try to convert my k200 into k200Plus, which is the body of k200 and a "soul" of k500. But I wasn' sure about networking which is a must for me. I know it supports PGS, but does it support blue-ray menu? Also I am interested if remote from k200 will support k200Plus/k500. Will appreciate your input. Good luck!

K500 can support networking. Just follow the guide in Kaiboer Chinese website by translating it to english using google. The only downside I have noticed is movie streamed from network tend to slow stop sometime or even no sound. Aside from that, there is no subtitle. It's still preferable to attached the harddisk directly into the NMP.

I just bought my K500 1 week ago, will try to post any observation I coud find on it.

Hello for all,
My K500 now have a problem to play a lot of MKV file. I believe the problem is only with the new MKV (because old files still playing normaly). So my question is: Is there any version of firmware that solve this situation? K500 is compatible with any other firmware?
Since now i say thanks for all!
