I just got my Prime 3.0 delivered. Had to work from home today to be able to receive it, but figured it was worth the bother.

I connected it directly to my TV, and connected the network cable and power cable (actually i first tried through my AV receiver). I then pushed the power button on the casing. I could hear what sounded like the drive spinning up (ie similar to the sound a DVD-ROM in a computer makes when booting). However, no image was shown on the screen and nothing happened when i pushed the eject button on the box itself or on the remote.

I tried pushing the power button on the remote, which resulted in the same spin-up sound as when i first turned it on, but nothing else seemed to happen, the eject button still didnt work and no image was shown.

I checked the back to see if the network LED's were lighting up, but they werent.

If it wasnt for the sound when i hit the power button i would assume that it was DOA (which it might very well be), but i cant help but wondering if i am doing something wrong. Any help appreciated.

Hi,
do you see something on the build in display? If yes did you try the mode key and then 1, 2 or 3 to set the video output format?

There is a build-in display? I guess the answer to your question is no: it didnt display anything :)

Anyway, shouldnt the eject button work even if the unit was outputting on the wrong output?

Yes it should, however also there it depends on what the default configuration is as also the eject can be used to ehect the disk or make screenshots... I remember it is default ejecting the drive so if that doesn't happen, you got a bad player and need to return it...

Sarcastic: Look on the bright side though... You get to work at home for another day...

But i assume that the eject button on the prime itself should always eject, right?

*Sigh* Do you happen to know the RMA email of divxplayer.nl? (they explicitly state that the support phone number is not for RMA, so i am uncertain on whether to email info@divxplayer.nl (which seems to be used for support) or something else). I would like to avoid waiting several weeks for a response this time around.

I wonder how much it will cost me to return it, or do they arrange for return shipping?

Thanks :) I am trying to look on the bright side, but must admit that i had been looking forward to replacing my HTPC. My HTPC is always causing problems during video playback, but at least it can turn on ;)

For info, mail "info" @ divxplayer.nl...
the site states a number will be given soon so there's ni way to announce RMA at this time. Call the regular landlines and ask for info, avoids waiting for answers by email for information and instructions...

Its not very convenient for me to call them as i would have to do so from work. I guess i will try email first and hope that it was only a problem with spam last time.

A little update:

I waited a few days after sending my email and when nothing happened i tried to fax the fax number on the invoice. Still no answer.

Today i then managed to find time to call them on the phone instead (furious, but in control of my temper :). My anger evaporated quickly though as the guy i talked to apologized earnestly about the communication mishaps and immediately arranged the RMA. So i guess it pays to follow Hi-jacks advice.

I must admit i have a *much* better impression of divxplayer.nl after talking to them on the phone.
