View Full Version : NFS Sharing with Hanewin NFS/Allegro NFS and/or NAS
I have some questions:
Windows 7 box:
When adjusting set Hanewin NFS to:
"Number of UDP NFS Server Threads" = 32
"Maximum NFS transfer size" = 65536
I get around 11MB/s on the V3 (experimental 1gb disabled) and that's enough so far. However with the V1 I get 15MB/s.
Should I change something?
Allegro NFS doesn't work anymore after I made a fresh install of the retail W7 instead of the W7 RTM.
The same thing goes for my Thecus N5200 NAS.
V1 16MB/s and now with V3 11MB/s.
Can anybody explain these differences in speed for me?
Hi,
guess why itīs called experimental GBit in V3. In your V1 you must have the GBit miniPCI card I assume.
In V3 the sigma design chip should handle GBit and V1 a separate card handles the GBit.

Thanks and yes my V1 has the 1gb module.
I thought experimental 1gb and the Dune Network Playback Accelerator where 2 different things. I was thinking that in V1 and V3 the option Network Playback Accelerator was build in:
-For the V1 a 100 mb LAN port and 1gb module LAN port.
-For the V3 only 1 gb LAN port with a build in 100mb/1gb switch.
-Software for V1 and V3 as a bridge to the slower chips to reach higher speeds.
For the V3 I thought that the experimental 1gb is an extra option to get even higher speeds if it works eventually.
I have to disable the experimental 1gb option (as recommended from HDI), otherwise I get only 3MB/s and my network will do strange things, such as loosing connection with other W7 pc's.
So do I understand it correct that experimental 1gb and the Dune Network Playback Accelerator are the same thing?
Also with disabling the experimental 1gb I have in fact only a working 100MB Lan port on the V3?

Yes, itīs 100MB ...
I tested different versions of nfs servers (+ SMB tests).
Both settings:
- 1 GBit (Experimental 1GB - Enabled)
- 100 MBit (Experimental 1GB - Disabled)
... and compared it with Dune v1.0 too ...
You can find my results in table here:

... on other side - 11 MB/s is 88 Mbps, what is sufficient for all current heavy bitrated BDs...

I had this same issue with my tvix 6500..
I had to go into the windows firewall settings, and allow allegro .exe file .. From this, all works great..
Hope it helps..
