View Full Version : SMB streame problems
When I turn on my Dune to stream via my Nas in my network I choose Network Browser - SMB (not Upnp) so the subtitles works.
But often I can not see my clients in SMB (so I can not streame from here), but the clients are very much visible in Upnp.
Is something wrong in my Dune setup ???

It is a known issue, it sometimes take a time for SMB servers to appear in SMB listings in Dune, especially after power-off/on of Dune and/or SMB servers.
You can wait some time and refresh the screen with the list of SMB servers (e.g. by pressing the ROTATE RC button, or just by leaving/reentering this screen).
I have waited for 30 min and nothing happend in SMB, all though I was out and in the SMB screen severel times.
The only way for me to see my clients in SMB, is to boot ( turn off and on) 4-6 times, and suddenly I was lucky and I could see my network clients.
Is it something that can be fixed in a coming update for Dune Prime, or is it a SMB-issue ??

We currently see no ways for fixing this in the fw, and currently believe this is purely SMB issue (it is the fault of the standard Linux SMB client, not a specific bug in our firmware), so the next fw will have no improvements for this, unfortunately.
But we understand that this problem is not nice for many users, and would like to find a solution/workaround for this problem, maybe we will find it eventually.
The best workaround currently available for users is just to create a fixed network folder corresponding to the needed SMB share in the main menu of Dune. It will not suffer from this SMB browser problem, and will be even easier to use.
I have had different brands of mediaplayers in the past years and they all had the mentioned problem with networkbrowsing over SMB. I always fixed the shares due to this reason and it is easier to handle afterwards.
