View Full Version : cannot play Blu-ray structures or disks
Picked up my Dune BD Prime 3.0 yesterday.
So far it plays nearly all movie files except for Blu-ray structures from my NAS or retail Blu-ray discs from the drive.
When I try, I immediately loose the picture and get an error on the screen that says “weak or no signal” or in my case in Dutch “zwak of geen signaal”.
The counter runs and I hear sound but no pictures from BD files or a retail BD disk.
The fw is the standard 1444. have not tried anything else yet because if the player is not ok I want to return if without having experimented.
I can play a normal DVD from the drive but the drive peeps and screams like an old lady.
Anyone else with the same problem?
Ask your reseller if you can flash the Dune and drive without loosing the return option. (some HDMI issues have been fixed in latest firmware) It's cheaper for them to let you do it, then shipping it back and forth.
Seams to be linked to a HDMI sync bug which occurs with the Blue Ray Player application. See my information in the following messages (see also the linked messages):

With a Samsung TV I was able to find a workaround. It was necessary to deactivate the HDMI link funktion within the TV setting.
Thanks.
I guess this is more or less the problem I have. As said, up to now most files play, except for the Blu-ray disks and Blu-ray files.
I have connected the Dune through HDMI via my Onkyo receiver to my Samsung TV.
Also, I don't know if this is important but when I switch on the Dune I get 2 screens before I see the Dune logo.
The first screen shows ATV1 in the upper left corner.
The second screen is (in Dutch) "verbinding met Anynet + apparaat verbreken" and I believe this is Samsung related right?
By the way, when I have this “weak or no signal” screen I cannot return to the Dune menu. I have to reboot the Dune.

I've got the exact same problem as you have.. it plays all exept blu-ray.. the disk spins and the counter is going on the display but no video is shown connected via HDMI.. did not try component yet but I really don't want to have to use component to play bd's..
Also the screenswitch is also present at the exact same way as you describe it
Exept, the "weak or no signal" screen did not showup on my tv.
You can try to disable the Anynet (HDMI link) feature in your Samsung TV settings or something similar in other TV brands. With Toshiba TV it was not necessary to disable this kind of link feature. I would say that the HDMI sync issue is not yet mature enough if the Blue Ray Player is used. HDI/Sigma must work on this. It is crazy that it works with the Main Browser and the File- and DVD-Player but not with the Blue Ray Player.
Well guess what? this solves all the problems, so not only the strange screens but also the problem with both Blu-ray files and disks.
Thanks!
