Sometimes my player boots up really fast but without connecting to my NAS. I found out that I need to go to my network settings and just press ok without changing anything.
After a few seconds my player finds the NAS and my movies.
Any idea what can cause this?

A bug... This happens when being in standby. Seen it being discussed elsewhere already...

Ok thanks. Yes I use the standby mode but I could not find anything about losing network connection, only about losing HDMI but that is not what happens in my case.

I am a bit confused.

When I leave the Dune in Stand by mode I (sometimes) cannot see my files on my NAS but I can enter the setup of the Dune. After messing around a bit with the network settings, the files are visible again.

But when I leave the Dune in Power off mode, I get a black screen and I assume this is the bug with the HDMI loss? I read somewhere that I need to hit the "mode" button correct?

Is this the same bug or are these two seperate bugs?

Anyway, I switched from TViX 6500 to this Dune but it appears that the problems are very similar :-(

I upgraded the firmware to the latest beta firmware but I still have the same issue.

When I power on the Dune from stand-by, the Dune menu pops up very fast but my list of movies (on my NAS) are not visible.

When this happens, I just enter the network settings, change nothing, press ok and then the list of movies appears.

Is this really a bug or can there be something wrong in the settings?
I appreciate your help.

Do you mean that you dont see the movies in the network browser or in the main screen? If they are not visible in the network browser-->SMB-->... and you have updated to the latest beta, the bugs thread (http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21984) has it wrong:

- B-NET-002 - SAMBA - sometimes Dune lost the SMB shares. After restart itīs OK. | Closed: | 100307_2100_beta | Implemented a better scanning for available SMB workgroups and hosts in SMB browser. Now, there are more chances that SMB resources are found immediately, w/o the need to wait or restart network components. (This should fix the problems such as certain SMB workgroups sometimes visible, and sometimes not visible.)
Anyway I suggest you to make shortcuts to your shares to the main screen, it is much faster to use than the network browser and it solves this issue completely.

Cheers, AltGr

I have a network connection to the movies directory on my NAS. It is in the main screen. I never used the networkbrowser. It is a NFS connection by the way, using TCP protocol.

Then I must say, dont have a clue.? I still got my shortcuts in the main screen even if I upgraded the firmware. I was amazed that I didnt have to configure everything again.

If you really lose your network shares shortcuts in several different FWs you may have a bad unit? Or is it possible your shares are not there all the time?

Is it really the share or is it your network connection itself ? Do you use DHCP or static IP config ? Have you gone to a PC to try to ping your Dune when this happens ? What are the results ?

I get the same error with my Synology NAS, but only with the NFS connections. SMB works fine.
Which NAS do you have?

I use DHCP. Haven't tried to ping yet. Will try it tomorrow.

I have a Synology DS409+. Tried only NFS until now. I had a DS209+ with a Dvico 6500 before and never had such problems so never looked at SMB but now I will give it a try.
Thanks.

I use a static IP and when I ping to the Dune there is no problem with the network connection. But still, the movielist is not visible on start-up of the Dune, only when I press Edit network settings and after that "ok" without changing anything.

So it must be the Synology right?

Sometime Dune cannot find NAS. Just fix this Problem by this way:
Make a shortcut for Dune :

When Dune find NAS -> Open the Sharing Folder of NAS-> Press Popup Menu in remote -> Choose add shortcut.

Next time, u only chose NAS shortcut in desktop and access NAS.

I asume this is through the networkbrowser? When I try this, I can access the NAS but I cannot see or access any shared folder.

I think I found the cause for this problem.
When I installed my DS409+ I decided to automatically shut down the NAS during the night and to boot again in the morning. This must have caused the descibed problem because it is gone now that I have cancelled the automatic shut down and boot up.
I can now access my movies folder without any problem.
