Hello,

I have connected a WD usb hard drive to my Dune. Its FTP server is on and I can access to my HDD when I want

I have configured my Freebox Router to redirect the connexions from Internet towards the Dune. This works fine. However, the connexion is only anonymous and everybody can access to my files and do what he wants :(

So I am looking for a solution to secure these connexions. The Dune does not put forward ftp user accounts. Moreover I have thought about a VPN but I will need to let a computer on and I don't want it. Can you help me please?

Thanks

I would say that Dune doesn't have any ftp server nor any port redirection feature, so it will not work.

If your WD drive has a ftp server, I guess it has a network port. Therefore you should put it on your network and access the data from SMB / NFS.

The DUne Prime has a ftp server, I succeeded to use it from internet but without any secure access... Basicaly this player has only an anonymous connection, and we can not create a user with rights :(

Plug a router behind your Freebox which can manage VPNs. I use dd-wrt firmware on Asus (WL500g Premium v2) and Linksys (WRT610N) routers.

Other solution: connect a Synology NAS behind your Freebox which can act as a ftp server with a built-in firewall feature and a NFS server for your Dune.

Thanks a lot! The WRT610N router seems to be perfect! Gigabit, 600 Mb/s theorical wireless, VPN, usb storage... Thanks!
