View Full Version : HD audio not working with Base

Finally received my Base yesterday. I only use it for blu-ray ISO playback but I am currently not that impressed with the sound. I've browsed through various forums but no one seems to have the same problem as I have. So I am thinking that it is not a software but a hardware issue.

The Base is connected to an Arcam AVR600 receiver. The ISO's are located on a windows home server (NFS read speed on Base is 11MB/s and SMB read speed on Base is 10MB/s). The WHS and Base are connected to a gigabit LAN (experimental GB is disabled on Base). Tried both firmware versions.

The initial video playback was very bad. Lots of artifacts, green stripes across the screen and random white dots on black screens. This was fixed by disabling the "Blu-ray playback improvements" flag in the "Setup -> Miscellaneous -> System" menu. Very strange that this flag is enabled by default when it causes so much problems.

But audio still is a problem. DTS HD is not working at all (tried Transformers 2 and Transporter 3). No sound. True HD is working but it isn't played backed smoothly (tried Cars). Audio playback stops (fraction of a second) at random intervals. But only the audio stops playing, no hickup in video playback.

Does anyone have an idea?

Just found this thread:

This exactly resembles my video output before disabling "Blu-ray playback improvements".

Beginning to think that I have a faulty unit
