View Full Version : Question concerning modding a DP500 Rev a to a DP508

I have read the different threads concerning this issue. However I still have some questions:

I have a DP500 Rev 02 with a Sigma Rev A chip.
I also have a Samsung 80GB hardisk.

I am aware the both the HDD and the DVD can not work at the same
time. But have someone obtained full functionallity of both the DVD and the HDD drive unit, using a external switch and a power cylce for using each unit separately.

a)
If yes, how is the external awitch connectected ?

b)
Further, what is the functionality of the DP500 in the HDD mode. Is it possible to copy files from an external computer to the HDD (e.g. all my
MP3 files) using the standard Kiss DP508 Firmware.

c)
Has any body checked if it works with firmware 2.8.0

To master/slave pins to open HDD's and shortcircuit DVD's (so hdd is slave)
or the contrary (dvd is slave)

Yes, it's possible from a pc with pc-link installed

It works with 2.8.0 as with 2.7.4...

You can not only use pc-link but also FTP in modified firmware which is more stable at the moment.

If he asks "using standard KiSS DP-508 fw" the only way is pc-link...

I did it. I put a small switch (HDD/DVD) on the back of the player.
I can live with the switch, it works like a dream !

that was one of my problems i have when i mod my kiss 500 to 508, but now its working nice.
