I often read that FullHD streaming via wireless is not possible, but I have been doing so for the last two months.
This actually doesn't have to belong to WDTV section, but I happen to only test it with WDTV Live, and unfortunetely Xtreamer.
This is purely my Personal Experience
WDTV Live with Belkin F5D8051 V3100 Wireless N USB,
when I was with Dynalink RTA1046VW reuter (Wireless G). I was surprised I could stream 720p wirelessly 54Mbps (MegaBit) to my MyBookWorld. But, as there are more connection to wireless, casual breakup will appear.
When I finally upgraded to Wireless N reuter (BiPAC 7404VNPX), streaming fullHD become possible, but I found that playing video with file size larger than 7,5GB is impossible, All stuttering and unwatchable.
And to be fair, I had a chance to try it with Xtreamer too (before selling it), to my surprise, it too can stream fullHD wirelessly, but its a lot more unstable, and the loading time is really long, WDTV Live plays it almost straight away. Oh by the way, with wireless G connection, xtreamer can't even stream HQ Standard DVDrip, let alone 720p, and man the loading time is terrible starting from firmware 2.
I recently played around with wireless encryption security, and decided to upgrade it from WPA TKIP to WPA2 AES, to my surprise, the connection speed I have from my laptop is twice faster, hence I decided to test WDTV Live to play files that was not even possible to watch.
The result, I was left stunned, ALL of my FULL HD videos some bigger than 25GB /file, plays flawlessly, but the loading time becomes noticeable, around a second, while files under 7GB almost play instantly.
Now, I'm putting all my medias to my NAS, that is MyBook World and eTRAYz (yes, as a gigabit nas it's slow, but i can stream fullHD videos fine apparently)
I hope this will be informative ;)
So I was wondering, what sorta experiences you guys have dealing with wireless streaming? Especially HD Videos on those very expensive boxes like popcorn hour.
Cheers.
