Hi all,
I've started the tweaking of my 800DVR HDD Media recorder
…until it stopped to work…:-(
It's sell be Measy as MP-800DVR
http://www.measy.com.cn/product/showproduct15.htm
or by DayFly as HD-800DVR
http://www.dayflycn.com/Product_Info.asp?productID=1085
the original firmware is made by Mele (The only info that I saw
inside the original DvdPlayer app)
I've found on thw web other firmware almost compatible
like the verbatim Mediastation or the Avmedia MP7220
(but the remote is not recognized)
All the other firmwares that I've found are in a different format
as needed:
all the ellion/emtec firmware are in a compressed file
named "install.flash.img"
The firmware for the system I'm working on must be
"install.img" in tar format that must contains some .bin
and a configuration.xml file.
Anyone has a copy of the firmware for this system?
Anyone own the same system in order to extract some
files to recreate an original firmware?
Anyone has any suggestion to "translate" the install.flash.img
format in the "install.img" one?
Many thanks to any suggestion,
Ciccio

Solved!
Thank you to another guys that provided me the dump of an identical system
I was able to reconstruct the original firmware.
I obtained the dump of the flash mtdblock:
dd if=/dev/mtdblock/0 of=/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/bank_0
dd if=/dev/mtdblock/1 of=/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/bank_1
dd if=/dev/mtdblock/2 of=/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/bank_2
dd if=/dev/mtdblock/3 of=/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/bank_3
dd if=/dev/mtdblock/disc of=/tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/bank_disc
Thank you,
CP
I am new in this forum. For the MP800DVT how do you go about telneting or linking to it to do this sort of thing?

are you sure about firewall settings?
Hi yes I turned off the firewall. Just one thing, did you telnet to it with the original firmware or did you first reflash it with something else?

Original firmware.
It has a telnetd and an httpd active by default
the http works - get some sort of cgi sum sample. The telnet does nothing?? It is the standard port? What software do you use? I tried windows and putty and it just says connection refused by host :(
Have tried using IP address supplied by router to dvr.
Is there any special mode?
standard network connection?

Should be a normal telnet connection.
I known from other messages/forum that somtime putty doesn't work.
try to telnet the http port to exclude misconfiguration on the PC
Ok tried that - get a reply - tried multiple times on telnet port - connection refused. Starting to think that telnet has been disabled on this version of firmware :(

Another tip maybe useful:
http://www.fabita.nl/post/Enable-telnet-access-to-Screenplay-PRO-HD.aspx
I have tried that already thanks - it does not seem to have an ext2 partition

I discovered this after disconnecting the hard drive and saw that it booted ok without the drive but not with the drive in.
I had the same problem - It seemed to have something to do with the fact that I had formatted part of the drive in NTFS and then stored files in that partition. After some experimenting I booted my PC from a Linux cd that does not need to be installed and then used the partition tool to change the NTFS to Fat32. It worked after this.
