This thread follows the previous one dedicated to yaDIS: http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22993

yaDIS (Yet Another Dune Indexer and Skinner) has been developped in order to provide a fast, light and simple way to index and skin a movie and tv show library on a Dune.

yaDIS is a very light program, right now installer is 5 megs and executable 800k.

yaDIS main features:

• Tv show and movie management
• Several media source folders management
• Automatic scan of movies and tv shows (manual search available)
• Movie information in english or french
• Tv show information in french, english, german, dutch, italian or spanish
• Multi-part movies support
• Manual editing of movie and tv show information
• Manual editing of movie and tv show image
• Manage a movie index with lots of categories (genres, alphabetical, years, durations, types of media , ratings, directors, ...)
• Manage a unique interface for your medias even they are distributed on several sources (advanced export mode)
• Options for interface customization: covers/banners layout, background, cases for movie covers, ...

For movies, yaDIS uses the Ciné-Passion database to retrieve movie information, covers & fanarts:

http://passion-xbmc.org/Themes/default/images/ImagesOnBoard/cinepassion.png
http://passion-xbmc.org/scraper

For tv shows, yaDIS uses TheTVDB.com (http://thetvdb.com/) database to retrieve serie information, banners & fanarts.

Hey Fred-L,

As the previous thread will be closed I have posted my questions in this new thread.

I am using yaDIS for a few weeks now and everything works well. I am still on the stable versions and not using the beta versions (so I am not using TV shows yet).

After reading through all the posts here (damn, what a work) I still have a few questions and I was hoping you could help me out.

1. Is it possible to to have the view of all the Genre or Year in 1 screen (just like the alphabet). At this moment I have to scroll. I also would like to arrange so that for the Year, the newest (2010) is on top, at this moment the movies from the oldest year are on top. And is it possible to have the genre in Icons or pictures instead of plain text?

2. Can we add/personlize the index (Genres). I would like to add my own genre (Dutch Movies).

3. Is it possible to mark movies, for instance: Watched, Seen, New, etc....

4. In yaDIS it is not possible to manualy change the acteurs (if movie is not found by Ciné-Passion), I would like to change the actors of movies which I manualy add.

I am also curious about the plans from HDI to implement their own solution for working with user's media collections: Dune Media Library. Does this give conflicts in the future with yaDIS?

And last but not least. I would like to add/make contribution to Ciné-Passion. I have read that we all can upload or make contributions by adding movies to the database so that the next time you will scrape you can find your movie (I have one film that is not found by Ciné-Passion that is called "Oorlogswinter" (dutch movie)).

Thanks in advance for your help.

ps. I am translating (and updating) the full user manual into Dutch. When finished I will post it here.

Hi Fred. The program keeps getting better and better, well done!

I too had a few unanswered questions in the previous thread. I hope you can still answer them:

In the older versions of yaDIS there were several dune_folder.txt files in the template folder and I was able to modify them to suit my personal preference. I do no longer see them, is it still possible to tweak/modify the yaDIS provided template?
I think I found a bug, where sorting of playlists is not done correctly. See here (http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showpost.php?p=195294&postcount=1086).
Thanks!

After activating this option, you have to regenerate the images by processing your movies again. This will apply the cases. After that you can export (no need to use "force export") to update the interface on the Dune.

1. yaDIS now dynamically generates the dune_folder.txt files. This allow more customization ability. This is why there is no more dune_folder.txt in the template folder.

2. Yes, I will fix that in next release. There is also a problem with the duration displayed for multi-part movies. It will be also fixed.

Thanks Fred for looking into this. To get the idea what I was looking for you can see in the forum of Zappiti (http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23073). They made some screens (i think with photoshop) that look really nice. I don't know if this is a lot of work.

You mean the "File Name" without extension ?

Like "Star Trek" from the Movie Star Trek.mpg ?

i think this is a "Line" in the Dune_Folder.txt ???

But i dont know where Line i write to bring the File Name under the Cover

I have made a little Video from the Dune Interface in Action see below "sorry for the poor Quality"

What do i see now: The covers of the movies and thats it :p

What do i want to see: The covers of the movies with under every cover the Title of the movie not the filename :) just the title :D

I agree with that too. It would be great to have the directory name shown under the icon, but only under the icon that is selected and not all icons. So it would be great to have a bottom line that only shows the directory name of the currently selected folder icon.
I think, currently it is not possible with the current firmware (you only can switch on all titles beneath icons), but perhaps it will be possible using flash light?

What about adding the directory name to the title info on the background image? Then we can see the title in our local language there while it is not shown on the movie cover page.

Fred-L, I still have some uncommented feature wishes. Perhaps you can write some words to them?

Suggestions/wishlist for next version of yaDIS:

- Could you please implement a recursive search for episodes in a folder too? So that everyone can have it's own localized subfolder name like "season XX" or "Staffel XX". The episode and season number should be found through the S0XE0X naming scheme or better an own pattern.

- Perhaps you can add an extra page for all files not recognized as episodes like bonus media or media files with different naming scheme?

- TV management is finding series containing S03E01 for episode 1 of season 3 but it does not find S3E01 for the same file. The same problem is with files from a series with less episodes in only one season just named with the numbering from 01 up to the last episode number. The are not found too (e.g. Crusade - 01 - Kriegsgebiet.mkv). So it would be great to set an own naming scheme for identifying the episodes of a series. Can you add a text field where the user can add his own pattern for defining how the current series to search for is named?

- The dialog boxes "select fanart" and "select cover" should get a "back" button to return back to select a (different) cover/movie synopsis. Sometimes you want to select a different background than cover but there is no other background available and you would like to choose a different cover.
Button "Cancel" on dialog boxes "select fanart" and "select cover" should be renamed to "skip" because it doesn't change the current cover and doesn't abort the operation. Additionally there should be a real "cancel" button for aborting the dialog box and returning to the main window.

- Could you add a context menu entry for "updating synopsis"? It should not ask for new icons or closing the current window dialog. It just should update the movie info and media info for all selected titles and recreates all background and cover images for them.

- add a checkbox in the media folder dialog for enabling/disabling folder paths to not show and export currently not available movies (offline server)

- add an option to change the workspacepath in the yadis.ini file

- new index option: sort by resolution (1080p, 720p, DVD and different minor resolutions)

- if manually inserted an imdb id in the movie search dialog, the search button shouldn't be disabled

- perhaps you would like to set yaDIS under an open source license like GPL and open its own webpage with a bugtracker to get some help for other databases by the open source community?

Thanks again Fred-L for the very very great software!

Hi,

i have a problem with the index folder for tv show files. When i list them on my tv the labels of the variuos tv show are overlapping each other and they are not well spaced like in the picture preview of the first post of thread.

I think is a problem of the dune_folder.txt file but i don't know which value i have to adjust...

Hello,

I am using Yadis a couple of weeks and it does it's trick very well but i have got a couple of questions about the program:

1:
I did an upgrade today from 0.99 to 1.0 but i had to recreate my database completely, i backed up C:\Program Files (x86)\yaDIS\workspace but i could not get it working again.
Is there an easy way to backup the movielist database so it can restore it and don't have to recreate the complete database?

2.
When i export my dune interface fundamental i get for every movie title the error like the one in the attachment.
http://www.bdjd.nl/error.jpg
I have a qnap NAS with samba mounts to my desktop. When i open the folder on my dune everything seems to work perfect.

Hope someone can help me on this issues.

Whats the matter ?

i mounted my external Drive in OS X and can look over Yadis/Parallels into the Drive and write on it (HFS formatted)

the Path must comes without smb// etc. ? while the Drive is on the Dune at an external USB Slot

I am not sure if this question has already been answered in a previous post.

yaDIS adds for every movie, in every categorie and in every genre the info for the movie including background image. This means that for my +/- 175 movies I now have in the 0-directory about 1,5GB of yaDIS files.

Is there any chance in the future that yaDIS wil only need 1 directory with all the necesary files per movie.

I've re-processed my movies that have multiple discs. (Ex. Dracula - Lagacy Collection) I noticed that a PLAYLIST was placed in the Dracula directory and that the index points to this PLAYLIST when selected from Dune. However when selecting Dracula I get a PLAYLIST IS EMPTY error. Any ideas why?> I've checked the playlist and it does contain all of the discs. Thanks for the help.

it was a bit of a pain for me...but if you let it rescan your directory then copy in the folders from your backup, it will just rebuild quickly using the images/metadata you had before.

This is not correct. For a movie, yaDIS stores the images (cover and background) only once (in the directory "00\00"). There is no images in index folders.
It seems your concern is the 1,5GB. The size of the interface is due to the use of AAI images (8MB per background). This choice was made because the Dune handles this image format very quickly. If PNG or JPG are used, it takes about 2 or 3 secondes for the synopsis to be opened. For me, it is not acceptable.
Anyway, if some of you accept to wait 3 seconds for the synopsis to be displayed, I can add an option to save synopsis in JPG format. It will decreased a lot the size of the interface (about 10-20 times).

If you a a problem with paths, you use the advanced export mode and you did not specify the absolute paths correctly.
If it works with Zapitti, this is because you don't use absolute paths with it but relative paths. This is why you can't say "it's ok with Zapitti, not with yaDIS". Please compare with what's comparable ;)

In advanced export mode, yaDIS tries to define absolute paths on his own. It works in almost all cases but you still have to check if paths are correct.

If you are not familiar with the use of absolute paths for the Dune, please use basic or standard export mode.

That is like choosing between my brother or my sister ;). I don't like to wait but I also don't like te much space lost by the AAI files.

Just leave it for now, I just deal with the 8MB per AAI file background.

Thx anyway for your answer Fred.

Excellent. Another question i have and im sure its been covered before, but when you have content on 2 differetn hdd's, i have found that when i export from Yadis it creates the _yadis folder relative to where the original media lies. Meaning that i have to open 22 seperate yadis folders to view the content of either drive. Is there a way of exporting all the yadis config to just one location?

I think it is because under "Dune formatted media folders" you have to have the complete adress to the folder you are sharing on the network. You have to add the folder name.

Like this: http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/6234/14249346.jpg

I am still having issues with using expert mode in Yadis. I have tried to read and understand this post :

http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showpost.php?p=193923&postcount=974

but cannot work out which option relates to my setup. I have a Wndows 7 machine with 2 hdd's, one with tv series and one with movies. If i use stadnard export it creates two seperate yadis folders, one on each hdd, only relating to the media on that drive. Im told if i use expert mode i can export to a signle location on either of those drives which has all my media in one location. I cannot work out how the paths work in expert mode . Ive tried both SMB and Hard disc and both give me a invaliud URL error. Which option should i use and how do i format the location? If i click the Auto button it comes back blank.

I think it is because under "Dune formatted media folders" you have to have the complete adress to the folder you are sharing on the network. You have to add the folder name.

Like this: http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/6234/14249346.jpg

Then press validate and the Export button should function.

Are you using a NAS in this example? Or is this the PC that stores all your media? I have all my media stored on the same machine where i do my exporting to yadis but cannot work out which option to use in expert mode to get the dune to see my media.

I have everything on my computer and a HDD connected to the Dune. But that shouldnt matter. I will try to explain what I do, and that works for me at least.

The first thin to do is to choose where to put the yaDIS index folder, this you do under "yaDIS interface folder". as i understand this is where all indexes will be saved, not relative to which folder you share.

I have this on an external drive. I just chose the HDD, without making any folder or anything.

Then you add the folders you want yaDIS to search through. You can determine how the folder is shared, either Hard Disk, SMB or NFS. The folders im sharing on the external drive connected to the Dune, i chose Hard disk and under "Path" i wrote Film, because thats the name of the folder, giving a path for Yadis to find the files.

For the folders im sharing on my computer i do the same thing, except i choose SMB, i put in the ip adress for the computer (an advantage having a static ip adress i think?), and then under "share"the folder name. No need putting in the path.

The image i pasted in the last time is everything I have written in to have it work. To get SMB working you of course have to have the folders shared, and that was kinda difficult in Windows 7, I have to say.

I just cant get it to work. I setup the IP of the machine and the share as you have noted, but i still get the same URl not found. I can find these same locations via SMB or via a shared folder from the top menu with no issues. For some reason the path specified in Yaddis just isnt getting to where its supposed to be. I have check a few of the Dune.txt files and they appear to be pointing in the right direction. I assume the Due references shared differently to Windows in that it uses // rather than \\? An example of what my syntax is :

media_url=smb://10.0.0.3/Movies HD/9/9.mkv

IP is right, location is shared. So cannot work out why it failes to find the file.

Its not so big, but every time i want to export the tv show "24" it gives errors on the episode 4 5 & 6

for the .sIcon.iaa and for the .Icon.iaa so 6 errors for the 3 episodes. Only going to post one screen. First time i have this problem, but it consists. Its allways with 24 and never with other things.

And if i look at the dune now, then i see were season must be at the folders of the seasons and when i click that the normal dune interface with the episodes. And can start all of it except the one with the errors. But no art or synops are shown, the normal dune interface like i said :)

Ive been trailing Zapatti fot the last few days and the one thing i like about Zappati over Yadis is that it supports IMBD for its movie scraping. I find the cover art & movie DB is larger. Having said that i prefer the TV layout in Yadis over Zapatti. Is there any chance that Yadis will support IMDB for scaping at some point? I just find that the scaper Yadis uses at the moment is quite french oriented and does not have the degree of support as IMDB. Even if the user had a choice of either scaper if possible?

When you have before played with Yadis and exported all indexes etc. you may not generating all old Movies twice.Yadis see that you have this done before.
Only new Movies must be scanned and generated

I have a dumb question about how yaDIS handles TV. Specifically Battlestar Galactica.

I am getting ready to start ripping Battlestar and I am curious as to how to name the miniseries and Razor. The miniseries is part of the Season 1 set, but it doesn't have an episode number. For example Season 1 Episode 1 (S01E01) is '33', not the miniseries, even though the miniseries is the first disc of the set. So how should I label the miniseries so that it shows up in my episode selection screen? Same goes with Razor.

Yadis pulls it's TV series info from thetvdb.com, these episodes are classed as specials, so use s00e01 for the miniseries and s00e04 for Razor and Yadis should pick them up fine.

Also, make sure your Battlestar Galactica folder is called 'Battlestar Galactica (2003)' otherwise it'll use the 1970's TV series!

At the moment, yaDIS is only able to show the first 4 actors.

As Malignant said, all video files need to be in the same folder and have a certain naming like s01e01 in either the beginning or the end, or yaDIS cannot recognize individual episodes. Unfortunately, series in discs (iso-files) are not supported and never will, simply because no program can look inside iso files.

Does the naming of an iso with all the episode-names in it work in Yadis? Like 'showname'.s02e01.s02e02.s02e03.iso'?

With Zappiti that works like a charm, and there's no need to look inside the iso-file.

You have to modify the 'folder.ini' file of each folder you want to move to another hdd. The 'folder.ini' file is located in the workspace folder. There is one per source folder. The line to change is 'folder=folderpath'.

Fred Thank you sooo much.
Mate can you please explain tiny bit more in detail

I tried these as per suggestion with out any success
1. change the name of the folder in C drive under Yadis/Workshop as advised
to this "M classic movies" (with out :)
2. Copy the same folder and paste in the my new drive M under the new folder (classic movies) folder.

3. Tried to run the Yadis and then export it using standard (as advanced was not highlighted)

Also Fred would appreciate if could clarify, when you have time to answer,
after I run Yadis with my new hard drive connected and not the old one, Yadis shows all the folders from the old drive, as in Red Color ?

The purpose of the using two drives, are eg. old drive can have movies/video files which are watched and do not required very often sych with Yadis and therefore can stay in the living room and new drive can handle all unwatched video files.

I hope I am not giving you toooo much hassle. As I do understand you are sparing your precious time for all us, but I really love this programe and would just like to use two hard drives .

Thank you sooo much, and please no pressure, you are on your holidays and when ever you have time, would appreciate if you could look in to this matter.

PS would appreciate if you could confirm if "Folder" file has to be copied and what name exactly has to be changed.(as it does not allow to put : after M(drive path))

@ meerut:
The method of Fred-L is for when you want move the whole directory with all your movies:
(1) Move directory with your movie files to the new location
(2) Change location in ini file of the same workspace in the YaDis directory
(3) Depending on how the files are shared: export movies in YaDis

Maybe your looking for this: I have two folders for movies: 1) Seen movies and 2) Unseen movies:
1) Be sure both workspaces exists
2) Move directories with movie files to the new location (in my case from unseen to the seen directory)
3) Move the same movies directories from the old workspace in the YaDis directory to the new workspace in the YaDis directory
4) Open Yadis and export movies

Note:
- You have to export again because the location of the movies is changed. The Dune has to know the new location. Personally I delete the old index and export everything again. There might be a better method (export selection only or force export), but I don’t know how YaDis deals with previously exported movies who don’t exists anymore. Maybe I will try this later or someone knows the answer .
- Do not copy/move the ini files in the workspace (unless you know what you are doing)

Dear Kickthedodo,

Thank you so much for your help really appreciate it. These are the finding after your suggestion. Please help

Transfer the whole folder from Disk A to Disk B (including((_Yadis)) work folder)

Change the new path address in the "ini "folder and saved it back.

After this I change the transfer folder name from disk 1 to something else and also delete the folder from Yadis.

After this I tried to run the Yadis and used export and as per image 1 all the transferred video files in the yadis were duplicate with ! and ? signs in front (as per the link for- image 1)-
I tried to export using standard as well as basic but Yadis did not let me export using Expert(greyed), with same result.

http://a.imageshack.us/img844/482/yadiserror.png

Then also tried to played the Disk 2 in the dune media player and it was able to show the content but not with it was showing it earlier with the right preview, (please see Image 2)

http://a.imageshack.us/img825/7047/yadiderrordisk2.jpg

Also does it mean everytime I run Yadis, both hard drive needs to be connected to the computer, even though I may need one only to add files ?

Any suggestion, what I am doing wrong?

What you see in image 1 could be because you have not changed the location correctly.
- YaDis thinks that the movies with ! are not processed
- The movie with the ? are the already processed movies, but don’t point to the new movie location.
=> there is a mismatch between the location of the movies and the correct workspace in the YaDis directory

You now have probably two workspaces. One for disk A and one for disk B. What you can do is go to the workspace directory and move all the directories containing the movie to the correct one. Be sure not to move the folder.ini file.

Regarding image 2:
How did you move the files? I think you moved them with the dune and as a result the hidden files in the root directory are not moved. You probably also use the basic export mode. You have several options:
- In the setting there is a option to show or hide the system files. Show then and move the remaining files to the new location (.Background.aai, .Scroll.png, dune_folder.txt)
- If you have the correct locations you can just export the movies again.
- Move the files with the computer to the root of your new disk

Correct the wrong file locations first!!

Some isos do that (not a yadis problem).

Usually, I mount the iso, create a folder like 'seriesname.s03e02' and move the VIDEO_TS and the AUDIO_TS folder with their contents to the new folder. --> you can play the folder on the Dune.

I have one last question

As I am using two hard disk and one is always attached to Dune player and second one needs updating once in a while, I noticed that if Disk 2 is connected to the computer and you run the Yadis with out disk 1 connected, all the video files in Disk 1 shows "?" is it normal and will it have any effect ?

Thank you for your answer

Also mate is it normal that Yadis create the main working folder in "C" drive and also create Yadis folder in the disk root level too (external hard drive), as it adds up the double information and take more space ?

But I'm stuck right now with creating some series... I've copied some series that has been recorded from the dutch television and is not stored on http://thetvdb.com/.

I like to create my own banner of the serie and add my own chapters and seasons in it. I'm trying to do this with yaDIS, but it's searching at all times to the http://thetvdb.com/ site.

Can you add a custom button or something that will not search any database. But where I can select my own jpg files for the banner / wallpaper / chapters /seasons and add my own information field?

1 - It appears that yaDIS will use local metadata if present first, and if not then scrape. Is this correct that for movies movie.xml would be the local metadata and for tv shows tv.xml would be correct? If so, is there a metadata manager out there currently that saved these xmls?
2- What local naming convention will yaDIS use for covers and backdrops, if it does? Right now yaDIS is not using any of my local art (I have art named based on MediaBrowser, XBMC, and YAMJ)
3 - How exatcly do tv shows work? For example, all my tv shows are stored under //WHS/Videos/TV Shows. Each TV show has its own folder, and under each folder is a folder per season. Each episode is named "ShowName - S##E## - EpisodeName.mkv". The TV Shows appear in yaDIS but I get an error message that "No Video File is Found". I set my TV Show directory at "TV Shows" in yaDIS.
4 - Is there any way to have more control over the cases that are used? For example, my BluRays are all in mkvs. I would prefer the BluRay case is used for these and not the mkv case

Thanks

This is done automaticaly if you do a force export.

Not in the main menu.

You can put the index e.g. on an usb drive and give the drive an other name in the dune_folder.txt if you want to. This way you can directly access the index from the main menu, but the icon stays the same.

If you want the icon in the main menu you can create a shortcut to the main menu from a folder.

I.e. I have the index on the internal hdd with a folder with the YaDis index. With popup menu you can create a link (on the folder you want to link) to a folder on the main menu. If you want to, you can hide the original folder on the internal HDD by marking the index folder as an system file. However, I don’t know how the dune uses the icon when it is marked (Just try it!)

With regards to TV shows, I believe all of the video files go in the tv show's folder without having separate folders for seasons e.g. Lost folder would hold S01E01.mkv etc as well as S02E01.mkv...

I don't know if feature requests get monitored here, but adding support for separate Season folders should be a high priority (in my opinion of course)

Your question let me think out of the box :). Never thought of that it was possible to show a custom icon on the main screen by just creating a icon_path in the dune_folder.txt . Thanks!!!

Two options (or is there still another one ;)?)
1) Nicest option for is to just export in yadis to an USB drive
2) If Yadis is in a folder of e.g. the internal harddrive you can create a link in the main menu. Select the YaDis folder => use popup => add to main screen
Disadvantage is that it doesn’t show that YaDis is selected

I hope that HDI will add support to customize the main menu more. It’s a bit a chaos right now.

I think that I have found another bug in the current version of YADIS, similar to the bug that I reported early. I converted a movie on a Blu-Ray Disc (Enchanted) to an MKV file using MakeMKV. The Audio and Video was transferred from the original untouched. The Audio was in Dolby True HD Format.

When I ran YADIS, it found the MKV file, and according to the media.xml file created, recognized the Audio Track as A_TRUEHD (presumably for Dolby True HD). But the display screen created by YADIS only shows a "?" in the "5.1" icon box, not listing the type of Audio in the MKV file.

I am currently running yaDIS 1.0 Beta 3... I hope this helps.

I agree, hopefully season folders can be added (if possible). TV seems to be really slow and laggy...but worse my view keeps getting messed up (like im getting strange lines and some flickering on my tv). It's not picking up all the episodes sometimes either even though they are named in the same way. Thanks.

When you have the latest episode of a tv show, I have noticed that the TV.XML file needs to be deleted and recreated every time if the episode picture is to be obtained, as the previous one does not have the picture details (due to being a new episode)

Is there a way of the TV.XML being refreshed automatically when the Process button is pressed?

First of all, great program and the possibility to show TV as well is really nice.

However, is it possible to have episodes indexed which are on DVD or BLURAY?
Because no matter how i name my bluray folders it doesn't seem to find any content.

Keep up the good work though :D

When DVD mastering was done correctly, it is easy:
Use MakeMKV, it will create a different Mkv for all titles from the DVD, which means for each episodes.

When DVD mastering done crap, you have only one title and you need to separate each ones which is a PITA.

yea not really an option, as i'd like to keep the bluray''s intact with menu and all. Otherwise i'd be downloading the mkv's in the first place.

Hopefully it is something worthy of a to-do list :)

So that you can either name the iso S1D1.iso or the foldername S1D1 and then yaDIS asks which episodes are on that disc and creates the rest from there.

But for now, movies work like a charm :D

Yep, I understand that well, I'd like that as well but ideally, it should display episodes like with MKVs and launch the corresponding disc at the good time value.
Not *that* hard to do IMO.

BTW, you can edit Synopsys for doing that.

Hi All,

Sorry but I'm a Newbie.
I already read this post and the earlier but couldn't find answer for my doubts.

I Have Dune 3.0 Base with 2TB internal disk.
My folder structure is:

- Movies (where I have all my movies in each folder)
- Infantil (Where I have my children Animation movies)
- Series (Where I have my TV Shows - I need to rearrange it because I have it by Seasons folder)

Yesterday I installed Yadis 3.0 Beta 3 and run it only for Movies folder in Standard mode.
It got all my movies but wasn't able to create anything. I'm doing it film by film manually. Tis is normal or I'm doing anything wrong (It's not easy to go through this program without manual or tutorial, and the available Manual is made for version 0.9.9 that have significant differences for this new version)?

In order to arrange the other folders do I need to export it to Dune on Advanced Mode, or Standard Mode will work on TV Series?

Another question is about the "Infantil" folder. Should I move all the contents to Movies or may I mantain this folder?

Another thing that I wasn't able to get in my first try export is the Index on Dune with the Films separated by genres and TV Series as is posted on this:

http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22993.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Quick question. I am in the midst of ripping my media to be used with this program. As suggested I am ripping a TV mini series to mkv. I have bonus media in individual mkvs as well that was on the disc.

Can Yadis display the bonus media file names with the actual episodes? Thanks !!

Palmex

You should name that bonus episodes as S00EXX (XX will be the number of each different episode).
Yadis will create a SP (Special) Season before of the Season 1 and you will see there the
bonus episodes.

I want to let you know that I'm currently working on the version 2.0 of yaDIS. 2.0 because I've changed programming language due to some limitations with the current one. This will bring a more attractive GUI and a more faster/responsive program.
The version 2.0 will bring a lot of new features awaited by people. The list is too long to put it here now but I will let you know later.

Welcome back Fred-L. I hope you have had a nice holiday!

To what programming version did you change? I'm hoping for native linux binaries in the near feature too. ;-)

Feature request for the new version:
- yaDIS needs something like a "sync" button to synchronize the mediafiles exported to your interface path and your current media library. Currently already exported media links in the interface paht are not deleted, if they are deleted in the database. It would be great to have an option to sync while exporting so that not every export has to check if the links in the interface path still exist.

But if I use basic export mode to get the icons and synopsis in my NAS folder and link to the movies folder from the DUNE -> I can not see any synopsis for movies in folder structures (BDMV, VIDEO_TS). The icons are fine and movies in files (MKV, AVI, ...) show the synopsis.

Anyone an idea, where my mistake is?

If this is the case, yaDIS creates a playlist with all video files. This playlist is played when you launch the movie. At the moment, it can happen that video files are not sorted correctly inside the playlist. This will be fixed in next release.
You just have to put your video files inside the movie folder.

Will yadis 2.0 recognise multiple episodes of tv-series in an iso-file, like Zappiti does?

I mean, like seriesname.s01e03.s01e04.s01e05.iso --> 3 episodes in Yadis 2.0?

That's been the show-stopper for me using Yadis for tv-series.. Which is a shame, because I like it a lot for movies.

Anyway, thanks for all the great work, Fred-L!

I dont know if yaDIS is different, but most other programs require S##E## as the naming convention:

Scrubs - S01E01 - My First Day.avi
...
...

Ok,
I renamed them to S01E01 - My First Day.avi
and put all episodes of all seasons in one folder named scrubs but it still doesnt work.

not sure this has been posted before:

If I start via yaDIS a MKV file, I can't select the "external srt" via the subtitle button on the RC.

However, if I start the MKV from the "folder view", so not via yaDIS, I can select the external srt without any problems.

Any ideas?

EDIT: problem already reported: FW error? http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showthread.php?p=192969&highlight=subtitles#post192969

Nevertheless, it should work this way.
As you tried several file structures for Scrubs, it can be a mess in the workspace. Delete the Scrubs folder in the workspace and process again.

Hi,
Now I have a new problem when i will export my Dune Interface.

I have two HDDs, one with Movies and one with Movies and TV Shows.
Structure:
K:\Movies\...
H:\Movies\...
H:\TV Shows\...\...

yaDIS export window:

Interface Dune destination:
L: (My USB Stick)

Dune formatted medias folders:
Folders:
H:\TV Shows
H:\Movies
K:\Movies

Dune formatted medias folders:
storage:uuid://HDD2/TV Shows
storage_uuid://HDD2/Movies
storage_uuid://HDD1/Movies

Further I addad a txt-file at the root of both HDDs which contents
storage_name=HDD1 (HDD2)

Now I export everything. So far everything works.
But when I open the yaDIS directory at the Dune Player and want to open a film it says for example:

Can't open URL. storage_uuid://HDD2/TV Shows/Scrubs/S01E01 - My first Day.avi

Can anyone help me!?!?

Do not use storage_name. It is no more needed. Remove the txt-file.

Now yaDIS uses UUID for HDD instead of names.
You have to know the UUID for each HDD and replace HDD's name with UUID in Dune path.

Hi Fred,

I just noticed one issue and thought it will be best to sought your advise.
1.After deleting the movie or moving the movie to different folder

In yadis, I have to reprocess the moved movie folder and have also to put information mannual (movies which are not found in database) and also have to delete the move with ? as that movie is deleted.

Unfortunately in Yadis works space folder, either the moved movie or delted movie folder remains ? is there anyway something can be done so that it get deleted if movie/video file is not found or once you remove the movie directly from in to different folder ??

Agreed..
On top of this, it will be great if we can by a click of the button update the exported movie database on the Dune player also.
What I have to do after deleting a movie, I have to delete the movie on the workspace folder in my Computer, delete all the exported database on Dune then re-export everything again.

Hi Fred-L,

+1 to the wishes of meerut and kaydee6 ...

If you still accept further demands for V2, easier handling of folders moved from one folder to another, would be on my top list as well!
Maybe besides adding an option for seen/unseen movies as part of the index (IMHO instead of "recently added" ... but this is just my oppinion :-)

Nevertheless THX for the great tool yaDIS is already !!!

I have good news regarding this. In version 2, movie data stored in the workspace will not be linked to the source folders as today. Doing this, if you move a movie to another source folder, it will be transparent for yaDIS.

My oppinion regarding this functionnality is that it must by handle by the player itself. I consider it will be painful to manage this within yaDIS. So, let's hope HDI will add this feature in a future firmware.

In version 2, you will be able to change the media format information (all media infos will be editable).
For each common file format, there will be a dedicated case.

For instance, for a "MKV" file, the case first applied will be a mkv case. Then, you can change "MKV" to "Blu-ray" (via a dropdown menu) and a BD case will be applied.

Why would it be a pain in yaDIS? It seems like any of these Dune Indexer's could include a seen/unseen toggle box on the same screen where you enter movie description.

Then the template would just need to include some type of graphical element (maybe a white silhouetted open eye for seen, and closed eye for unseen) when it generates the jpg. It would be no different than how it chooses to display mkv vs iso, or any of the other graphical elements.

True, watched/unwatched would then have to be controlled from the PC (no button you press on the Dune to change that toggle), but at least it would give you something. It would then give you the ability to create an unwatched category where a person could go to see something new.

I hope you reconsider adding something like this to yaDIS. I think it would be wildly popular, even if it had to be managed on the PC side.

i am googling and found this on HDI

History of dune_folder.txt features added in firmware updates:
================================================== ============

090731_1629_beta:
-----------------

- "media_url" can now contain not just relative paths, but also absolute
paths point to files on the same drive or other locally attached
drives (helpful for working with media collections stored on several
drives). Syntax:
- "media_url = /{path-to-file}". Refers to the file with absolute
path "{path-to-file}" on the same drive.
- Example:
- "media_url = /VIDEO/Dir1/file.avi"
- "media_url = storage_name://{name}/{path-to-file}". Refers to the
file with absolute path "{path-to-file}" on the drive with the
storage name "{name}"; here, storage name is the same as used for
FTP/SMB access from network (automatically generated default name
such as "usb_storage_UUID", or explicitly assigned custom name --
see below).
- Example:
- "media_url = storage_name://MYHDD/VIDEO/Dir1/file.avi"
- "media_url = storage_label://{label}/{path-to-file}". Refers to the file
with absolute path "{path-to-file}" on the drive with the volume
label "{label}". (Volume label can seen in Information dialog for
the drive.)
- Example:
- "media_url = storage_label://My HDD/VIDEO/Dir1/file.avi"
- "media_url = storage_uuid://{uuid}/{path-to-file}". Refers to the
file with absolute path "{path-to-file}" on the drive with the
UUID "{uuid}". (UUID can seen in Information dialog for the drive.)
- Example:
- "media_url = storage_uuid://0123456789abcdef012345/VIDEO/Dir1/file.avi"
- Note: referencing files on other network drives is not yet
supported.

- "dune_folder.txt" in the root folder of a drive can be used to assign
a custom name/caption to the drive. Syntax:
- "storage_name = ...".
- Assigns a custom storage name to the drive. This name is used
for FTP and SMB access from network and for referencing the
files on the drive using "media_url". Unless "storage_caption"
is also explicitly set (see below), the custom storage name is
also used as the storage caption shown in the file browser.
- Example:
- "storage_name = MYHDD"
- "storage_caption = ...".
- Assigns a custom storage caption to the drive, to show in file
browser.
- Example:
- "storage_caption = My HDD"

Are there any plans for yaDIS to support more scrapers, like themoviedb.org, IMDB, or even DVD Profiler?

But I would like to see the real mkv logo on the movie datail page with bluray case as source. I know I'm crazy a little bit :-)
So the case changing not will works independently from media format?

yaDIS 2.0 is still using or importing the old workspace from 1.0beta, isn't it?
I had to add all my german titled movies manually by searching for the imdb ID and inserting them one by one. That's a pain in the ass and taking many hours - so I'm hoping the hours are not lost again like with the pre-1.0 versions.

Hello,
I've searched through the threads but I was unable to find an answer...sorry if this has been discussed before but I'm also new to the Dune/Yadis. Everything works well but I would like to improve the movie indexing as I have a big collection.....

1 - Is there a way for Yadis to use artwork which is already in each separate movie folders? (artwork is named like movie)

2 - Is there a way to customize how Yadis searches the movie titles, all my movies are titled like this:

Terminator (1984) 1080p DTS

this is because I'm coming from PCH/Yamj.

I can choose to ignore the date in the brackets through the options but the indexer picks up resolution and audio and hardly finds any of the titles....

Renaming is not really an option as I have more or less 2500 titles and I'm still using the PCH elsewhere....

Thank you in advance for any suggestion...:)

Maybe version 2 will help?

Fred-L
24-09-10, 20:32
At the moment, version 2 will not help.
yaDIS ignores everything in brackets.

So you have two options:

1. Rename movie folders removing everything that is not related to the title.
2. Rename movie folders putting in brackets everything that is not related to the title.

You can do this easily and quickly with a renaming tool like "Ant Renamer".

Or if someone has an idea on how to process folders like "Terminator (1984) 1080p DTS", I can perhaps change the behavior in version 2.

I'm using [1080p] in my folder names too to quickly see if it's hd or not. But I do think it's not a good idea to not set these infos in brackets. It has nothing to do with the movie title and I do think additional infos about the movie file belong into brackets.

@Starwarp

Yes, "icon_scale_factor" and a single icon image will be used in next version ;)

Perhaps you should use the bigger sized icon as the only icon image and show all normal icons with a smaller scale factor of this icon. So the selected icons will have a higher resolution than they would have if you scale them to a higher resolution.

@Fred-L:

What about an update function for the next version to update all (selected) movies through taking their imdb-ID and updating all synopsis data including updated mediainfos as additional option. Icon and background image should not be changed, only the combined background image with synopsis should be updated.

What about a fallback if a movie title in a different language is not found or the synopsis is empty? -> it would be great to have the english synopsis instead of an empty synopsis if a german ofdb ID has no abstract in contrast to the english imdb.
Maybe it is a good idea to set yaDIS searching in ofdb at first and then in imdb if the title is not found or the abstract is empty.
It would be great, if the icons and backgrounds from all selected databases will be shown for the users choice.

Is there a chance, that the program would search according to file name instead of folder name?

+1

This will be great !

It will be great, to have all MKV's in on Directory !!

I use one other Mediaserver to stream the movies to my ipod.
There i must zap always in folder to see the MKV-File. -((

Im playing with Yadis more and more and really starting to like it. Will version 2 have iso tv support or will i still have to separate each episode? How are many of you handling extras for the tv shows?

Extras or specials named within S0 not S01 etc.
This would be written in this thread before

Iso will be supported for tv shows (today, it is supported but iso are considered as discs not as seasons/episodes).

For each iso file, you will have to use a naming convention.
Examples for the series "24" (episodes 1 to 5 of season 1):

"24 s01e01-05.iso" or "24.01x01-05.iso" or "s1e1-5 24.iso" or "1x1-5.24.iso"... etc

As you can see, a lot of combinations are possible...

Visit theTVDB.com to get the proper season/episode numbers for specials.

That is great.

However, every example above shows a disc with just consecutive episodes from a single season. There are enough discs with:
- episodes ordered differently on the discs than on tvdb (Firefly = notorious). meaning 3 and 5 can be on on disc, while 4, 7 & 8 can be on another.
- specials are situated on several discs along with regular episodes. Specials on tvdb are usually numbered in a separate season:0.

In some other programs, that's possible in the form of: 24.s00e04.s02e03.s03e05.iso

Will Yadis 2 support such discs too (pretty please)?

I have that same problem with Fear itself. The episodes on the disk are ordered differently than they are listed on tvdb.

Sinxcerely with such a bad and stupid mastering job (from the company I mean), I would rip to mkv (or avi or whatever) each episodes and be done with it once and for all.

I find unacceptable to play with 2 or 3 discs when you want to go from E03 to E04 but first isc contains E03 then E05. This is completely stupid.

As a follow up on TheTVDb.com ordering shows based on either the Aired Date or based on DVD Release (eg. - Firefly)... Can yaDIS Version 2 container an option to choose either TV Episode ordering based on Air Date OR DVD release?

Thanks for your support.

In most cases, that would be a very valid reaction.

But you might consider the following:

- When Fox aired Firefly, it aired the episodes in another sequence than Joss Whedon (the maker) intended. On the DVD-set the sequence as Joss Whedon intended is followed (which is an improvement). That sequence does not match the scraping sequence as offered by tvdb. Just one example of

- Several Disc sets place the extras for a season (s00 episodes) on discs with regular episodes (--> non s00).

I just ask whether there will be a naming convention with which these discs will also be scraped correctly.

It's not that strange a question, if you consider the fact that other software (Zappiti for instance) handles this just fine, combined with the fact that I like Yadis better (and therefor would prefer to use Yadis for everything).

Bug or Feature Request :)

I have my own Background Image for Yadis

When i selected it in the Homescreen and the click on Export, this Background i see only in the very first Mainscreen.

Then i click on "Movies" the Background change to the Default Background but not to my Background i have selected :(

So i must clean my HDD with all old generated Backround Pictures and Infos that Yadis have made before i changed the Background so that my new Background placed in all Windows (Mainscreen etc)

I find it peculiar that every question about IMDB support has been consequently ignored so far.
It would be nice with at least a hint.

Thanks.

I'm going to install yadis tonight, a few question. If all my movies are on the dune base 3.0 does this work like zappiti, do i just point it to that drive and it will scan the movies?? Also if I use ember media manager
To get all my artwork for movies and tvshows will yadis use instead of trying to scrape from the French site lastly will you be supporting Imdb

Thanks

Paul

I perfectly understand your question, sorry if you felt my comments were against you. They are not. Rather, I'm baffled by certain choices Studio mastering do or TV channels.
French channels have the 'good idea' (*****s) to shuffle episodes. One week they will broadcast e12 et e14 then e13 and e15. Idiots.

Special episodes are different kettle of fish I agree (they are not 'specials' for no reasons).
