Yes that is normal.
(You can play a more then 2GB file on the Amstrad?
Must be a bug in the player :-) )

Look at an example of a DvD:
1 Movie is 4 to 5 GB but devided
in different VOB files around 1 GB or max 1.99GB.

You will need to cut the movie into peaces if you want to see them on the KiSS. I doubt there are player that can handle files that are more then 2GB but then again, i'm not sure...

There are two reasons.

Maximum size for offical .AVI is 2GB, cause of the adressheader

Maximum filesitze for LINUX is 2GB
KiSS runs on LINUX

Sure! I have played a AVI film larger than 2GB on the Amstrad 3016 :cry: and on PC with BSPlayer.

i have send this email at KISS Hotline ...

"I have found a Kiss 1000 firmware bug ... in my DVD-R mastered with UDF file system a DIVX bigger than 2GB don't play ... "

and this is the result ...

Hi, It should work if you finalise it and burn at X2,4 speed.

Albelia...
Trust us my man... :-)
2GB on Kiss --> NO!

:-)
A mistake from KiSS saying that it works.
Probably based on Avi and UDF (without keeping in mind that file is 2GB)

i believe in you, Hi-Jack and Dream :D

i use Auto Gordian Knot 0.8 and i am inable to split one file avi (with AC3 audio track) into 2 files (1GB) ... so, 1 AVI file larger than 2 GB it's my only solution ... :cry:

Best regards ...

You can split AVI files with other tools.

AviSplitter or VirtualDUB.

I will add a VirtualDUB tutorial today in our documentation here:
http://www.mpcclub.com/modules.php?name=autohtml

It will be in a new folder:"
05 - DivX Related

Hi,

I have the 2GB file problem :( However, I'm a regular user of Gordian Knot and virtual dub etc but I recently bought a plextor convertX. This is a hardware encoder that received s-video sigs from mt sat box and encodes on HT DivX on the fly. It's great but you can't adjust the settings within it's options. The result is if I want a DVD like quality rip many of the files go over 2GB. I'm guessing it doesn't use keyframes other than the 1st one so when I split, the 1st avi is fine but the second just looks like the deltas (lots of blurred and black rubbish).

I run EZLink pro and was wondering;

1) Anyone any ideas if there is a workaround within EZLink (or planned for DP500)?

2) Anyone any ideas how to split files like this - obviously reencoding isn't an option otherwise why buy the convertX?

The quality is great and I have files up to 4GB playing file on the PC - just need them on my TV!

Any help much appreciated.

Lyndon.
