Tip&Tricks: add additional country flag icons to Yadis

This is a small guide and necessary files to enhance the use of the country flags used in Yadis.

This Tip & Trick applies to version 2.0.4 of Yadis

Version 2.0.4 already added country flag icons for Poland, Belgium and Thailand compared to previous versions.

Yadis uses country flag icons to signal in what countries a movie was produced. But in my collection i have some Belgian and Thai movies and those didn't have a flag as these aren't available in Yadis. So i started to look what i had myself concerning flag icons. I downloaded several of these icon packs a while ago to use in my own soccer database, so i had some of these lingering on my computer.

Long story short i had the exact same flag icons Fred-L is using in Yadis and was able to get flags for my Belgian and Thai movies.

As this worked excellently, i thought why not share this with other Yadis users.


Now how does this work;

All flag icons are saved in the images directory under the Yadis program directory. Besides that there's a countries.xml file under the workspace directory. So adding images with the correct name in the images directory and editing the countries.xml file did the trick.

For instance you want to have an flag icon for your Romanian movies, just add the flag icon for Romania provided with this guide, see below, to the images directory and add the following entry into the countries.xml file just before the tag

</countries>

<country fr="Roumanie">Romania</country>

And save the countries.xml file.


When you click on Apply next to your Romanian movie and hold and below you'll see your movie now has a Romanian country flag added.

To decide what countries should be included in the package i look at dvdprofiler and also on the wonderful Kinoblog (http://filmjournal.net/kinoblog) which covers Central and Eastern European films.

Sure no problem, so this tip & trick will not have a big lifespan :) Ah no worries it
might be that someone needs yet another flag and then they just need to ask.
