Hi,

did anyone try one of these Remotes with the NTV550?

Logitech Harmony One
Logitech Harmony 700 (Comparison 700 and one) (http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/60/&view=34?A1=1&compProducts=3898&A2=2&A3=3&A4=4&A5=5&A6=6&A7=7&compProducts=6063&A8=8&A9=9&A10=10)
One For All URC-8603 XSight 3 Touch (homepage) (http://www.oneforall.de/en_UK/product/1/universal-remotes/3/advanced/29/xsight-touch)

As far as i know, the Harmonies like my TV&Receiver, but nothing about the Netgear.

I have had a couple of boxes that were not in my URC MX-810 database, I have always used the "learn" function. Takes a little longer but the only way I know how to make it work.

The plus side of this method is you only have to learn what you use - Any buttons/functions on the orginal remote that I never use, I just leave out.

This sounds promising as the URC is about 90€ and the Harmony One 135€ @Amazon.
One question: If i choose to remote controle my ntv550 with the URC - do i have to switch to something like the receiver profile to change the volume or can i mix the profiles? Because changing the volume should always work via receiver.

Most higher end RCs punch-thru to control the volume of a A/V unit. Do your research - the cheaper RCs cost less because they do less. I never liked the Harmony units but a lot of people love them (just me I guess).

If you look at the URC brand look at the "Professional" models. The programming can be a bit overwhelming at first. And make sure that the remote comes with the software, not all companies allow you download the software.

A place to look for information:

Thanks for your info, but we talked about completely different brands.
The "URC" Remotes are'nt sold in Germany or Austria - With a quick search I wasn't able to find a single reseller in europe!
So i will order the Logitech Harmony 700 and the One-for-all URC-8603 and test both. Both are able to "learn" from the original RC and both allow scripts like "watch media player".
IŽll let you know how it works..

The Neo NTV is in the harmony data base so you shouldn't have to learn any commands.
