View Full Version : Ultra vs Ultra +
Seriously considering to enter into NAS for my media collections.
Have been checking the new Ultra 6 and Ultra 6+.
As I understand it, the plus model is faster.
But is it worth the extra money ? (Any problems with the non plus, that made Netgear to release the plus version ?)

I hope this is not advice that is too late for you, but the Readynas Ultra 6 plus with 1.8Ghz processor is about the same price as the new Readynas Pro 6 with 2.8Ghz processor.
My advice, if you are thinking of the Ultra 6 plus, is forget it and get the new Pro 6 (price in the UK is only about 3% higher)
Make sure you get the right model number:
RNDP6000-200EUS (european model number) is the diskless version.
There has been some discussion about this on the Readynas forums, it is a strange bit of marketing to sell a lesser unit for the same price as the Pro 6.
Obviously the Ultra 6 non plus is cheaper, but the faster processor may come in handy for multiple streams and transcoding of media.
