Haven't noticed that...Do you mean that MKV's that had sync problems don't have them anymore? Or that you never saw it at all?

2. selfmade moviefiles from camcorder (mpeg, avi) play now fine for me
3. .mov files from my Canon photocamera G11 now play fine, but
without audio. Would be great if audio will work in the future.
I didn't have other issues and at the moment i didn't play a whole

This won't install for me on my D1. It is currently on 110511_2007_beta.
I goes to start the download then comes up with Error: Open failed (1502)
Any ideas?
Edit: It's decided to download it now, maybe there was a site problem.
Did the upgrade - don't get a picture out to my receiver.
The box works fine - when using remote and watching LCD display.
Please help :confused::confused:

Open manual....and press button "Mode".
I noticed two problems with the new firmware:
1. After changing the mpeg radio stream to another in aac the sound is jerky in one channel.
2. RadioTime application tells me "This stream is not compatible with this player ..." in most cases (Error: code 2,1).
I got a serious problem too

It doesnt play with firmware:
Version "110606_1315" (the latest stable version)
Version "110511_2007_beta" (BETA version)
It does play with all the other firmware... so there is something wrong here (since the new gui)
Thank you for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING once more, HDI.
Still the same problems, artifacts in dark or changing scenes in mkvs, dvd images and dvd discs at random moments during playback. Rewinding and playing the same scene again, no artifacts. Some TS files stutter like hell. Some dont.
Each new firmware I feel more and more disappointed with my dune hd max. I wonder how many programmers HDI have working on their firmware. The base thing is the same since late 2008, and they were not able to implement the most basic features other players have since forever. A turn-off signal screen saver. Selectable on-the-fly, different filename, external subtitles. The interface, although completely redone at the previous beta, even after that rehaul is still the most cheesy and old looking thing you can get on the market. And slow. Their wish list web page offends me as a paying customer, as its clear that their developers (I hope there is more than one) never look there, and the page is never updated.
Its unbelievable. My crappy old tvix 6500A is still a more consistant and reliable player than this US$500 top-of-the-top worst deal of my life.
I got a serious problem too

Well, my cedar rapids bluray iso still does not play... But so far, luckily, its the only one i'm having issues with.
Anther issue is support for 3 TB drives - has that been addressed? Has anyone tried it out?
it plays fine with my H1. only it's a 44gb .m2ts
same size, here, its strange it works with all other firmware but not the latest

I have a Dune HD Max and I still have a TVIX M6500A. I share the same oppinion that M6500A is a very good player. For your dune HD Max please try the following:
1. Reset the settings to the factory settings - player will reboot.
2. Clear the bluray cache, clear the system storage, clear the flash memory storage
3. Reinstall the firmware
4. Repeat 1) and 2)
5. Input your settings.
For the system storage do not use SD card. Please use a USB stick of above 2GB. I use a USB stick of 4GB.
Generally it is good to do this procedure when you install a new firmware.
Hi there.
Recently purchased a Dune player...:
My primary usage is IPTV (multicast, UDP streams)
With 110225_1222 it plays fine - both SD and HD channels. (.m3u playlist)
Then I tried with the beta firmware (2007) and HD stopped working - and only at times the SD channels would work. (or I would get error 1)
Then I upgraded last night to this 1315 stable firmware - and it's the same as with the beta... buggy SD support (if at all) and no HD tv, So I had to dowgrade (again) to 1222.
I have contacted Dune on several occasions, mail, forum and call - and I have not yet received a single reply no matter what I did! So - is this a forum that Dune reads/replies to?
Also have any of you found out how to choose subtitles for IPTV and (if possible) the ability to implement EPG?
thanks...
Hi, can anyone confirm that the SATA & USB copy speed are slower with "110606_1315" i have a DUNE-DUO & a Dune Base.
The internal copy speed with older firmwares are at 40mb/s with SATA & a copy from USB to internal SATA runs with 19-25mb/s
Since the update to "110606_1315" the internal speed goes down to max 25mb/s & the USB speed goes down to 15mb/s and slower ????
ps. correct this, since "110511_2007_beta" i checked different firms, no probs with "110225_1222" SATA to SATA copy 46mb/s
seems to me that the new GUI firms have this problem

anyone else on this? i really dont like this
@skank
Yes, i can confirm this.
Try this:
"C:\Users\Stijn\Desktop\Transformers 2\BLURAY\00001.m2ts
make a folder named BLURAY in the Transformers Folder & copy/move the two bluray content folder in it.
Only "m2ts" files are a prob
Second option, make an ISO or MKV-Remux file & you have no probs too.
I have Transformers 2 on Bluray Disk. I ripped on the hdd of my Dune Hd Max. Both the Optical Bluray disk and the rip are playing fine. I tried also the 0003.m2ts file (in my version of the Bluray this is the main movie file) and it is playing fine. Please try to follow the procedure I reccomended in the post above and see if the problem is still happening.
I have Transformers 2 as BD Iso, works fine (Smart D1).
I already updated this new FW
But the System Storge was disable , and can not enable.
Do I need to install again.
Thanks

First try reset you all settings-this i think will help. You can do this from menu.Or you can do it from here: http://dune-hd.com/firmware/misc/
P.S . check you HDMI cable .
Hello, i buyed a Dune Smart B1 last week. The picture quality is excellent. But I was very disappointed that there are no internetportals on it like xtreamer or wdtv. Is it possible that such a feature comes in a future firmware?:?: sorry for my english because i am from germany

Does anybody know how this channel list in RadioTime can be changed?
The list now is completely different compared to the one in the beta firmware.
The old one was much more applicable for my local situation, so I would like to have this old list back.
Does anybody know how to do this?

You're saying i should make it like this:
server\Mvies\transformers 2\BDMV\00001.m2ts
and
......................................\Certificate
?
I just found out that, with the new firmare, it works going directly to the file, but the moment i try to launch it through yadis, it doesnt, also it doesnt work anymore directly either, rebooting helps, but again from the moment i touch yadis, it doesnt in either way

Thanks - It was the HDMI port 1 on my receiver that was defective.
It obviously happened while updating the firmware - what are the odds for that ?

Wow, 46 MB/s is very good! But if it seems that the Dune is slower now, did you test the speed with the same USB devices than before? Many USB sticks do never read more than 10 or 20 MB/s, and are even slower when written.
Also the file system used might be important. The Dune probably is fastest with ext2 file system, medium fast with FAT32 and slowest with NTFS.

I think we should take into consideration that 1MB=8mb :-)
Has anyone noticed in the last beta and final (both with the new interface) that there is some stutter when streaming BD ISOs from the network at 24fps?
I had to revert to the last stable of the old interface (1222 I think) for this reason.
Also, it would be nice to have the option to chose wether we want to start with the default screen or with the shortcuts screen. I would prefer the shortcuts screen.

MKV 22ms audiosync problem still present. This is very annoying.
yeah, u r right. its annoying. i had no problem with very same files on my xtreamer PRO or xtreamer. and i am tired to set delay on my pioneer on and off again. question is why there are so few of us who report this problem. is it because of just a few player got this bug or all other people are on SPDIF or they are blind? :)

You having the problem doesn't automatically mean everyone else has the same problem - and no we are not blind...
I never had a sync problem with MKVs. I guess because there are mixed experiences here, it is hard to figure out what is causing it (different type of equipment, different type of connections).
One can only hope Dune takes a serious look into the issue.
MKV 22ms audiosync problem still present. This is very annoying.
Please tell me, all the mkv are affected!? The sound is delayed by 22ms or is in advance with 22ms!? Thanks
First day after upgrade: everythings works well.
Second day after upgrade: some dvd isos won't load, no sound from any dvd/bd/avi/mkv.
Third day after upgrade: cleared the system storage, everything fine again.

Well, I did not have to clear the system storage and still all is fine...
In general, sometimes with updates it is recommended to reset settings to factory defaults and clear all data, but actually I think this is quite annoying and I am happy that the Dune can keep all settings, system storage etc. when updating.
Let's hope this was a rather unique case!
Same here, I've never had a single problem with updating the firmware, and I never had to clear system storage or other settings!
I never perform the update straight away from the Dune Firmware Update menu choice.
I always download the zip file on my computer, unzip it and copy it to a network location that the Dune can access and then simply open it with Dune's Network Browser and let it do its thing.
Please tell me, all the mkv are affected!? The sound is delayed by 22ms or is in advance with 22ms!? Thanks
mine seems to be 0.06 or 0.11 out, i have to set it to a delay (minus sign). It's got better over the past firmwares, but not perfect for me.
pressing green or pausing it occassionally works to fix it sometimes.
I've been plagued with the -0.22ms MKV problems cine I bought the BD Prime.
It happems with almost all .MKV files regardless of size, resolution or audio codec. I originally had the issue going HDMI to TV and Optical to Receiver for audio (bitstream mode), so then I switched to feeding everything through HDMI to the receiver and the problem continued - both bitstream and decode mode.
One thing I'v enoticed: the issue does not occur with 25fps encodings. But it happens with everything else (24/25/30 are being fed natively to the TV).
Hi,
when you go to or through an AVR and the TV has enhancement functions like 100Hz or noise filter, sharpen filter or such things. How should the Dune know that your TV needs some time for postprocessing.
Have you tried to disable ALL "optimizations" in your TV and look what happens? Or have you connected your Dune ONLY to your TV?
Ralf

I think it should be 22ms=0.022 second. If it is only 0.22ms=0.00022second I think nobody can notice :-)
If it is rare, maybe the mkv it is out of sync.
In this case there is a simple remux solution.
Download the mkv merge gui (freeware).
Load the mkv you want.
Select the audio stream.
Go to Format Specific Option tab.
Set the delay in ms to -22.
Start Muxing

@rudik28 you´re right. I buyed a WDTV in Dezember 2009 and was satisfied with the picture quality. I also tested a xstreamer:sad:. But the quality of the dune is much better:D. I ask the question because the streams of russia.ru are also with excellent picture quality. So I think why there are not more streamportals.
(By the way:Egreat has also many streamportals:idea:)

For me this problem also exist and it's definately not rare for me, it happens with all my .ts caps which I can't even sync with the Dune remote because the complete movie or show will stutter afterwards. Also all my mkv's do need the resync of 22ms, but that at least works, but that is a pain to remember each time and to do this.
Everybody in my house does see it and it annoyed me a lot. I will not remux everything just for the sake of compatibility for the Dune, they do work with everything else. HDI has to react, this problem is here since the production of the Dunes 3.0.
For now, I just let my Dunes decode the audio. It's gone this way with all formats. This is with using HDMI.

Just for the protocol: Does the audio delay occur with the optical digital output ONLY, or is it the same with coaxial digital and analog output?
I think optical and coaxial digital output would be 100% identical...
I never tried this, I use only hdmi.

Hi,
Just updated my Base 3.0 to this firmware from the base 091023_1444_update1, which has at last given me the option to change the default SMB workgroup from the default DUNE to match my network. However I cannot find where to change the default share name.
Is it possible to change the smb share name from the long string of characters and underscores to something more meaningful?
Fozzie
I think it should be 22ms=0.022 second. If it is only 0.22ms=0.00022second I think nobody can notice :-)
If it is rare, maybe the mkv it is out of sync.
In this case there is a simple remux solution.
Download the mkv merge gui (freeware).
Load the mkv you want.
Select the audio stream.
Go to Format Specific Option tab.
Set the delay in ms to -22.
Start Muxing
Why he should do that. He can just use the sync function from the player /to -0,22s/.
The bug is present on almost all MKV's. I have noticed on many different setups.
I thing it is a Sigma bug, because it was present with PCH too. They have fixed it a year ago.
I think that lack of complaining is because not everyone is notice it.
I hope this fixes my weather widget, on my dune it keeps changing locations on the beta firmware. New firmwares are always exciting :D.
I think when you format your hard disk, you should select 64KB instead of other smaller numbers. This is bcos video files are normally in GB, by using bigger sectors, the files transfer faster and less heat generated. It works for me, at least. I use NTFS.

Yes, it's fixed. I also had the same problem.

Sorry to ask but how much it is the delay - 0.22s=220ms !?
Please try the method of upgrading the firmware below and see if the problem is still present. Thank you.
1. Reset the settings to the factory settings - player will reboot.
2. Clear the bluray cache, clear the system storage, clear the flash memory storage
3. Reinstall the firmware
4. Repeat step 1) and step 2)
5. Input your settings.
For the system storage do not use SD card. Please use a USB stick of above 2GB. I use a USB stick of 4GB.
Sopot, the player is resyncing the audio by steps. You sould try it. The closest number is -0,22s. That is what the player shows. 0,22s are 220ms, yes. The offset is noticeable and annoying.
I doubt that this updating procedure can help, but I will try it. Would I lose my network shortcuts if I reset to defaults?

Yes, all settings are wiped including network shortcuts so take a note of them before you reset.
A nice new feature would be to be able save settings in an XML file (or similar) for future import.
Maybe a stupid question, but how do you manually upgrade the firmware if the automatic firmware update fails (I keep getting a "read" error).
I'll I've found out so far is "download the firmware, copy it somewhere, then do something". The Dune-HD site itself is not of great help either...

You need a computer to do this. Download the fw on computer. Remember the location where you downloaded. Copy the fw on a usb stick. Unplug the USB stick from the computer. Plug the USB stick in your Dune. Run the fw from the USB stick. If you do not have a USB stick you can copy paste the fw on the HDD of your Dune and run the Fw from the HDD. I hope it helps.

I was asking how much is the delay because 3 people are saying 3 different values in this thread:
- 22ms=0.022 seconds
- 0.22ms=0.00022 seconds
- 220ms=0.22s
Thank you.
Please tell me if the fw upgrade procedure fixed the issue.
It's 220ms=0.22s. I just checked it again on my dune when set on bitstream.
The perceived delay if no correction is used, isn't always really 0.22s however for me. It varies wildy, from small to quite substantial. To make things very clear, this is a compensation for the error made by the Dune IMHO. All my files are playing correct on my htpc and my Boxee Box.
It was my bad that I did mention 22ms before because I took it over from some other people writing it here.
I will not even try your solution for now, only if others will report a succes with it. I don't have enough fait in it and I don't want to start over with my settings for now.

Oh, I've gotten that far. But it's the "run the fw" part that I don't seem to be able to figure out. And I'm quite a computer savvy user. How, on a Dune HD, does on "run" firmware?
Anyway, the problem solved itself, as the automatic update worked this morning.

fyi:
Browse to the folder, where the firmware is, then start the update with OK.

Hey Dune people can you bloody hell allow us 12hr time option?
Thank you.

Swearing or cursing won't help you getting what you want.
Be civil, stay polite, get your wish.
Edit: FYI: Upgraded the firmware. No noticeable changes
Hey Dune people can you bloody hell allow us 12hr time option?
Thank you.
Will you bloody hell learn to count to 24?
Stay calm :-) I'm afraid your message is lost otherwise on HDI...
It seems the dune has problems with the use of virtual items.
- The randomly restarts when using yadis and clicking on covers
- Some files dont play when clicking "play" or enter on a movie description. The dune goes to a black screen for 2-3 seconds then returning to a previous screen. Using the popmenu button and refresh is a workaround, this is also a dune firmware bug.
Seems like there a problem with auto resume on some MKVs since the introduction of chapter support for MKV. Music concert DVDs created with MakeMKV don't resume from the last place I stopped viewing but always from the same place. Can't say if this is a problem with all MKVs with chapters since these concerts are the only MKV files with chapters that I have.

This is yadis bug -not firmware.
Try play same file without yadis.

no this is not yadis bug, even without yadis, it does the same thing ;)

Because you have mess from yadis files-copy same file(Only video) on separate drive and try,or post mediainfo file you have problem.
I dont have yadis-and i dont have this problem.

Please explain. You say the Dune has a bug related to playing "virtual" items. What do you mean by that?

You say the problem is when you click "play" from the movie description. Therefore how can you say it still does the same thing without yadis. Without Yadis, there would be no movie description to click on.
I'm totally confused by your inconsistent remarks.

browsing directly to the file, instead of launching yadis and go to the cover, and movie description, and trying to play it , gives the same black screen and returning to the previous page (sources)

that i asked to Fred-L too :) hes the expert; but it seems , more people has it , but hdi doesnt know of it yet, and my knowledge isnt that good to explain them it all

Where are your files located?
I am using a NAS (and Zappiti) and don't have this problem.
Btw did you try to reset to factory settings and clear the system storage and see if the problem persists?

HDI dont need to know-Dune dont must play "virtual" items.
i ask you one more time:copy you video file on separate drive and try play.

Unraid server, never had this problems with earlier firmware
having it since the new firmware
popupmenu and refreshing solves the problem
reset, etcc etc, yes,but still the same
going back to older firmware solves it too
so..
YES its definately the firmware !
i ask you one more time:copy you video file on separate drive and try play.
its the same, i keep telling you...
not with older firmware, dont ask me why
I confirm this is not a yaDIS bug ;)
From version 2.1, yaDIS generates an interface that uses the virtual items mechanism in dune_folder.txt. As far as know, yaDIS is the only one software that uses virtual items.
Using virtual items has some advantages. The generated interface weighs less (approximately a 50 % gain) and the export duration is divided up to 10 times.
Some yaDIS users and I noticed that from time to time (fortunately not very often) there is a bug. Two bugs have been identified. The first one results in a restart of the Dune. The second one results in the impossibility of launching a movie. These bugs occur randomly.
For the first bug, after a restart, everything works well... until the next restart ^^
For the second bug, you just have to do a refresh of the screen using the remote control and the movie can be launch.
I'm quite sure these bugs are related to the use of virtual items. I bet that the memory is not manage properly with the virtual items. So it is a firmware problem.
If someone from HDI read this, please investigate on this issue.
Thank you in advance.

Skank: I am no longer sure that HDI checks this forum.. but surely if we want to help.. it's better to put some more info.
For instance:
how many covers do you have in the list when DUNE resets clicking on one of this cover ?
How did you export the address of your movies via Yadis (that is: which is the prefix of each file storage_lable, nfs, something else ?).
Which are the details of one of the movie the play fails ? (is it a dvd image, a mkv, an avi, something else ?).
It is clear that if with a previous firmware everything works the change is due to the firmware... but it's not necessarily the new firmware that must be bugged... maybe the combination new firmware<->Yadis is not optimal (I did not meet any issue with Zappiti..).
bye

Only one solution-make a dump file and sеnd to HDI.
I tried to update the firmware via the internet and I got a read error failed message.
Anyone else get this message, if so, what does it mean.
Thanks!

Maybe problem with server-you can download zip file unpack ,put on USB stick and update from it.

See this is what I don't understand. You have a file, be it mkv or iso or bd folder or some such. But you say you go the cover or movie decsription and play from that. Yet the movie file doesn't contain a cover or description - these must have been generated from using Yadis. Yet you say the problem is Dune firmware. Personally (and this is no disrepect to Fred-L) I'll stick with Zapitti which works fine for me.

i can watch the movie in 2 ways:

OK then. So what is the file? Is it an mkv problem, an ISO file, a BD folder rip or what? Can you post media info for the offending file? I'm still trying to fathom what your complaint is. You say it's Dune firmware, so if you can give us some details then maybe us "non Yadis" users can replicate the problem and offer some assistance.
Details already posted
Where? Not in this thread you haven't. I've also looked through the Yadis thread and nowhere can I see any details of your offending file or media info as repeatedly requested.
In fact, I've read what FredL has to say. He says it is a problem with Yadis but related to the way Yadis works with virtual items. Therefore, the problem does not exist when you play the file directly. Therefore you are telling untruths again.
This is the second time I have caught you telling lies. The first was when you said you had been posting in the Unraid forums when in fact, you didn't sign up until several days later.
The fact is, that there is a problem with Yadis and the author has said that this may be due to a bug in the Dune firmware. You have merely re-iterated what Fred L has said. Furthermore, you admit that you don't understand "virtual items" are so don't understand the problem.
Also, by telling lies again, you have merely made the issue less clear.
I for one, will never believe anything you post again, nor will I bother to try to help.

think you're overreacting slightly lol
anyway for those who are willing to help

This is new to me. If the movie doesn't play even by directly clicking on the movie file, it is not a problem with yaDIS. For confirmation, I'll try to reproduce the issue without using yaDIS.
it doesnt play, but when i refresh first , it does.
Also with earlier firmware it just plays without problems.., so its not the file i guess
Update: I just found out that, with the new firmare, it works going directly to the file, but the moment i try to launch it through yadis, it doesnt, also it doesnt work anymore directly either, rebooting helps, but again from the moment i touch yadis, it doesnt in either way
So on startup:
- Going directly to the file works
On startup going directly to yadis, it doesnt work
Going to the file directly after trying yadis, it also doesnt work
Where? Not in this thread you haven't. I've also looked through the Yadis thread and nowhere can I see any details of your offending file or media info as repeatedly requested.i believe he already posted (in this thread) the media info. as i reckon, it's .m2ts file. transformers i believe.

It looks like the way Yadis is calling the selected file is causing an issue for the Dune, which is persistent afterwards. That is: it interferes with the way the Dune tries to access the particular file(s).
Does this happen to (all) other files too, i.e. those files which you have never started with Yadis before?
Btw before jumping into conclusions about who is wrong and who is right, it might be more helpful to describe your observations and tests performed. Asking help this way will less upset certain people - a friendly advice :)

So far i only have it with transformers 2 , but i haven tried many others yet
mostly they work,
Or do you mean, the other files, not using yadis
then no
if i dont use yadis , i dont get the error (as far as i know)
the random restart, happens now and then and not always with the same movies(again in yadis)
i only browsed to the exact file ("sources") for transformerrs2 , cause that gave the big problem
all the other i access through yadis
i believe he already posted (in this thread) the media info. as i reckon, it's .m2ts file. transformers i believe.
true :)...........
My question is actually: after starting the first film using Yadis (with the failure), is it still possible to start other films directly, or do they all fail too?
If this is the case, it is likely a general "routine" problem rather than a corruption of the single file accessed via Yadis.
Where? Not in this thread you haven't. I've also looked through the Yadis thread and nowhere can I see any details of your offending file or media info as repeatedly requested.

Five pages ago, Rudik28 stated "Its a yadis bug" (as it works perfectly if you dont use yadis). And then we have five pages of yadda-yadda about yadis. Its sad, nowadays most of the discussion here always drifts to yadis or zappiti, while the real discussion about the FIRMWARE gets lost in the dust of irrelevant babbling on third party things that adds nothing to the FIRMWARE discussion.
Well, i guess we are stuck then...
I guess I found a bug....
While watching an Mkv, if we press the 'Subtitles' button, we are presented with the available subtitles, but the subtitles font options do not appear.
But, if there are no subtitles present, then the subtitles font options do appear.
Hi guys,
after updating to this firmware it asked me to restart as usual. but then it hangs and I ca't get my player to work again.
It hangs when it says "--- 1 ---" on the display (I have a Smart D1) and on my tvscreen t shows "loading..." with the Dune logo above it.
Any help on how to solve this, of how I can restore my old firmware from the moment I start my player?
thanks in advance.
greets.

Or try this one:take regular firmware from your machine, save it on a flash drive to FAT32, rename to dune_firmware.dff and disable all other drives (leaving only this stick) include Dune)
Skank did post the info, on page 4 of this thread.

Well I don't feel at all embarrassed (but maybe you will when you read this reply).
Let me first ask a question. How can media information posted on page 4 have any bearing on a new problem the details of which were post a week later, on page 10?
Skank had a problem playing a particular blu ray m2ts which he detailed on page 4 (2nd July). Then, a week later, ( 9th July) on page 10 he raises the subject of ANOTHER firmware problem, related to how the Dune handles virtual items. When pressed for information, he stated that the problem affected all file playback, not just users of Yadis. This mystified many of us so we pressed for information about what files were affected. None was forthcoming.
So you, and now he, are citing the "broken" m2ts rip that he had problems with before. Do you think using a file which is known to have problems, is a valid way of testing the existence of ANOTHER firmware bug?
The simple facts are these.
1. Skank had a problem with Yadis which he posted on that forum.
2. FredL replied that he thought the issue was due to a bug in the Dune firmware related to the way the Dune handles virtual items.
3. Therefore, this particular issue will only affect applications and functionality which uses virtual items.
4. Skank then posted in this thread, saying that the Dune had a problem with the firmware, related to how it handles virtual items.
5. FredL believes that the only thing which uses virtual items is Yadis
6. Therefore only users of Yadis will be affected.
7. Skank has stated that this is not the case and that it is not just Yadis which is affected by this problem related to virtual items. When pressed, Skank cannot support his statement with anything credible, citing only a broken m2ts rip which he knows has problems.
Now I suggest that you implement the advice you gave to me. That is go and read the thread properly. Oh, and also implement the advice you gave in the last line of your post.

You're missing the point man, the problem i stated on page 4 is the same problem talked a week later.
Its the same problem/ firmware/yadis issue. NOT another one, so i guess you're thinking wrong or missing the point, no offence
and again, theres nothing wrong with that m2ts rip...
why i posted a week later, the same problem? cause Fred-L lightened it up a bit by saying about the virtual items, so i thought i could post it here again, to bring it back cause it might clear up things.. but for you ' you're way out of your hat about it..

Ah, ok, thx anyway.
I really like the new interface
Issues
1) Audio to HDMI connector isn't always muted correctly when HDMI Audio [Enable/Disable] is set to Disabled
- Normal Audio (not multi channel) is allways muted correctly.
- Multi Channel Audio sometimes isn't muted, causing Noise from my TV Speakers
Workarounds:
- Sometimes it help to stop playback and retry (a few times), but sometimes it doesn't
- Other times a reboot of the dune solves the problem, but not always
- Other times I had succes by enableing Audio to HDMI, play a normal file, disable Audio to HDMI and start the Multi Channel file.
- And sometimes nothing works
Would be nice if Audio could always be muted (not sent to HDMI connector) when HDMI Audio [Enable/Disable] is set to Disabled
This issue is really annoying me.
Setup:
Dune is connected to my TV using HDMI, I only use it for display purposes (That's why I disable Audio to HDMI Connector)
Dune is also connected to my receiver using SPDIF connector for Multi Channel Audio Playback using Original Bitstream setting.
2) When starting the dune with a disc inserted in the optical drive, it will not stop spinning the disc.
Workaround:
Press play on the optical drive, when the movie starts, press stop.
Wish
Ability to save last played item in a folder
- Start playing a folder (creates a playlist of items)
- When playback ends (or is stops by user) it remembers:
a) position in the file
b) position in the play list
- When restarting the playlist (press play on folder again):
a) If previous playback stopped at user request during playback: Start playback at position where user requested to stop
b) If previous playback stopped because end of file was reached: Start at beginning of next file
Would be nice if:
Folder display changes to indicate file and file-position was saved and resume is available
- Press stop on folder could cancel the resume operation and restarts from first position in first file
- Press Info (or menu) could display playlist / resume position in playlist / resume position in file
By the way... is the Dune HD Lite meanwhile full BD capable? I have something in mind but just am not sure actually...
On russian forum said its will be added support for BD- lite in next FW -or beta .I can not tell you what is meant by BD -lite.

There is nothing wrong with this type of connection, it is actually quite common to have video only going to the tv-set via HDMI and use a dedicated SP/DIF connection to feed audio to the receiver/amplifier.
@jonline: I have a similar setup and always mute the tv sound. Did you try that?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AV_receiver
AV receivers or audio-video receivers are one of the many consumer electronics components typically found within a home theatre system. Their primary purpose is to amplify sound from a multitude of possible audio sources as well as route video signals to your TV from various sources. The user may program and configure a unit to take inputs from devices such as DVD players, VCRs etc. and easily select which source he or she wants to route to their TV and have sound output for.

HDMI audio can not be disabled and ..

This is true, if Dune is completly shut down with power button on player and switched ON again. Finally the spinning disc stops, but you don´t wont wait 5 minutes( who remember Prime 3.0 noisy drive, those undestood), when player realises, that you don´t wont play a disc.

Yes the video can be routed through an AV receiver/processor, but it doesn't have to be! I have a good quality (though old now) Lexicon MC-8B audio processor with legacy (ie not HDMI) video switching abilities, but even if it did handle HDMI it would be exactly the same - I do not route any video through it and only use it for audio. Use of the video switching is 100% a matter of choice. My Prime is connected via HDMI directly to my TV.

For you and some others it is a matter of choice, and good for you! ;)
I have a TiVo and a Dune, so I go via the AV Receiver to keep things neat. I choose to use HDMI because then I have 3 cables total - Dune -> AVR, TiVo -> AVR, AVR -> TV. Keeps things even neater.
BTW, the suggestion by someone previously regarding muting the TV - the main problem with this is that many TVs display an annoying "Mute" symbol on the screen when muted...

Yes Mark it can be setup you way-why-you dont have choice receiver old(sorry)-and can do it setup right way-use only one HDMI .
In my case its impossible: DVD player,BDplayer,Digital receiver TV,Dune>Onkyo receiver .
hello,
for me some mkv's are hanging during playback, just the sound goes on and the picture freeze for a few seconds.
are these problems from bad encode settings?
and i have this problem with some remuxes in mkv's from blu-ray.
does anyone else have this problem?

I have the same problem,i think is related to this firmware.
Still no Source Direct with this new firmware.

Routing video through a device mainly designed for audio is not 'the right way' - for you it is, but not for everybody. The receivers give you a choice to use their video switching, but it is not a requirement to use it or else you are doing it wrong.
With some AV equipment it would actually be 'the wrong way' to do it, ie I've been told that the recent Arcam AVR600 & AVP888 can't passthrough 24p so using them to switch video from a BluRay player to the screen would result in frame rate conversion or whatever the Arcams would do to the signal.
I previously had all my video sources going through a Lumagen Vision HD video processor - until it died :-( . As soon as I have the money I will get a new Lumagen Radiance VP to replace the old one and then all video will again go through that and do the switching with a single HDMI lead going to my plasma.
Mark.
@maximus74
I was also afraid that's from the firmware, thank you for answering.
i hope there will be a firmware fix in the next release.
Routing video through a device mainly designed for audio is not 'the right way' - for you it is, but not for everybody. The receivers give you a choice to use their video switching, but it is not a requirement to use it or else you are doing it wrong.
Exactly my point too!
@Rudik28: Stating that the 'right' way of connecting is through your receiver is false information. I even tend to say that the better way are direct connections into your tv-set. The less "intermediate" components the less interference or worst unnecessary conversions.
This comes at the expense of more cabling, but it is a choice everybody can make for himself.

What problem are you having?
Sorry, I was not being very specific with my question..
I own the Dune Base 3.0. While watching a movie, I use my speakers through a Denon amplifier. The audio seems to have a delay of a split second in this construction opposed to the sound that goes directly to the flatscreen which is connected with a HDMI plug.
I do not know whether if I can correct the delay of the audio sent through the amplifier? That's question 1....
The solution I used untill now was to correct the audio using the "shuffle/PIP" button on the remote..(Audio sync) But that was possible with movies in any other format than Blu-Ray. In Blu-Ray mode the option to audio sync just simply does not seem to be available....
So my second question is if it is possible to sync the audio in Blu-ray format (not subs....)
Note: the audio delay in Blu-ray format also seems to be a lot worse than any other format..
Thanks for your help on this issue!!!

Pffftt is the Dune site always that slow as molasses :?:
Download through my Prime of the last firmware fails each and every time. Tried like 10 times but no success.
Now downloading from the Dune firmware page itself with a magnificient speed of 60 KB/s

Solutions very simple -shot down you TV speakers and listen true Denon .

You can try two things:
- If you have a pure direct mode on the Denon, try it to see if the delay is induced by the AVR.
- There is a way to adjust the delay on the Denon, if it's like on my 3311. When you hit menu, choose audio and video adjust, then audio adjust, then delay, and you can chose 0-200ms. I usually set it t around 160ms, but I have a video processor later in the chain. Beware, the adjust is per source, so you have to set it for each device (it's likely to be different).
By the way, I recently found these test files which are really useful if you don't have a calibration disc with audio calibration clips: http://editorsean.com/blog/49-audiovideosynctest

I did try, but muting audio on my tv will display a permanent icon en the left corner on the bottom of my screen.
It works, but is not a permanent solution for me.

Hi,
Am I missing something here?
You can just set the volume of the TV set to zero.
Then the audio is muted and you don't have the mute symbol in your screen.
If it's a clever TV it will remember the last volume set. And maybe you can set the initial volume somewhere in the settings of the TV.

Curious...... can I share R200 output with my TVs upstairs? if so, how. thanks. jerry
hhmmm, i changed today my pioneer 919AH to NAD T747... everything works great except one thing. i cant play BD folder anymore. if i try that there is only black screen w audio. if i choose open folder and navigate to m2ts, everything is OK.
Hi,
perhaps your NAD has problems with 23.976Hz try another frequency.
Ralf
what the frequency have to do with? i can play 1080p 23.976 mkv and im also able to play those BD m2ts files when i navigate directly to them. only if i try to play any BD folder that happen. and some of the movies are 25.
thanx
Hi,
it was just an idea. I did not know that you also watch mkv with 23.xHz. Your video also goes through the NAD to your TV isn´t it? So it must have something to do with the image format which your NAD cannot handle.
Ralf
yeah. it looks like. but... this is copy of BD disc. dune ask me if i want to play or open BD folder. if i chose play, there is only audio and black tv screen. if i chose open an then i navigate to stream/***.m2ts an hit the play, everything works fine and i have a picture and sound too.
edit... it really looks like FPS problem. BD with 25.000 fps play fine.
Thank you for this suggestion.

My TV shows a mute signal for about two minutes, so are you shure that your TV is showing it permanently?

Forget about it. That features voting page is completely and absolutely abandoned by HDI, exactly as my hope on the implementation of some very basic features (for instance, a no-signal or black screen screen saver, proper external subtitles support, etc) on a future firmware. They prefer to implement useless things that are NOT in the list, like that awful cheesy (and slow) rewamp of the UI.
I still cant understand how so many people praise HDI products. The only thing that works reasonably well in my dune hd max is the blu-ray player. With other medias, it is by far the most feature lacking and the most unreliable (glitches, artifacts) media player I had the displeasure of using.
I have had the opposite experience. I previously had a Tvix and have tried a couple other players. The Dune product is by far the best I have tried and I have had no gliches or artifacts at all. It also plays full BD rips perfectly across my LAN. Very happy with it. (I only have a couple of external subtitled files, it picks up and plays those subtitles fine)

Hello,
Hi,
I encounterd the problem the following problem:
When playing movies made with canon and panasonic camera's, there is no audio, while playing these avi and mov files on a pc there is sound.
I hope Dune will solve this in the next firmware.
Rgds,
Skulls
I updated my HDi Dune Prime 3.0 with the newest firmware but still it doesn't play Pirots of the Caribbean IV, while I-III is no problem. I still guess this is a software problem. Does anybody know why and how to solve this or did anybody experienced the same and (s)he can tell me how to fix this problem?
Thank you,
Richard
Hi,
I watched the BR a few weeks ago no problem. It was the german disc and it was a real disc and not an ISO. Clear the BR cache would be a point to start.

Hi Ralf,
No success. It was a real (official) BR and no ISO but it's not working. Yesterday I got Cars-II on DVD and also that one is not working (but it is on my laptop !!). So, still looking for other suggestions.

I'm wondering, why DUNE post a "vote for new features" page at internet, but refuses to implement anything from these "new features" people vote for....

Hi,
when you count the features already inside the firmware you will see they did a lot.

No success. It was a real (official) BR and no ISO but it's not working. Yesterday I got Cars-II on DVD and also that one is not working (but it is on my laptop !!). So, still looking for other suggestions.
Richard

Any thoughts as to why this firmware isn't yet being "pushed" out via the auto-update feature?

If you player set to see Beta-you will get auto-update.

Not necessarily..... sometimes it still doesnt show up on certain players for some reason.

Sorry - referring to the latest beta - not exactly sure what number it is? The one that came out about a week ago?
It's not showing up on my Dune 3.0 Prime as available to download.

set to beta and it's not showing up
Hi,
The same for me. New beta not listed, even when "Beta" should be included in list.

Since Dune 3.0 Prime's are probably just about their best selling product (?)... One would think there is so many of them out there that they would have heard by now of this issue and are deliberately not pushing it out to everyone.
It's not showing on my Prime 3.0 either.
I've been told by a dealer that this is just an interim release and another firmware will be made available (take the next bit as very approximate) by the end of the month. So perhaps the latest firmware was just to fix a few issues on the new TV101 and hopefully the next one will add some additional features like the NetFront browser that supports Flash. I'd guess it will be released at the same time as the TV301 - maybe ;)
Mark.
My prime can't find this firmware either. Right now I'm too lazy to manually do it. It is playing perfectly anyway.

Same here. Just checked and Prime still does not see any new (beta) updates.

My MAX can't see this Beta also although i do have the beta updates enabled.
I will not update manually and will wait for the new update as MarkE19 said
Prime does not show beta but I have manually installed it and I'm please. We gained plugin solution and it's fantastic with lot of potential. Everything else just work as before. No problems.

Plugin solution?
It enables installation of plugins like for example: Youtube, Gmail, Netflix etc.

Really? Wow I must have missed that.
Is there any real data available on this?
I'm skeptical Netflix will be showing up anytime soon...

Does anyone know will there be more plugins in the future and is there a searchable Youtube plugin on the horizon?

@Rudik28: Is this a version with search function? I already have version with only last week/month/year favorites/popular videos selection options but no search function.

The new firmware isn't works good with "icon_scale_factor" (dune_folder.txt).... Is there any other solution or need to downgrade to previous firm?...
