View Full Version : Replacement for Dune D1
Hi,
I am looking to replace my Dune Smart D1.
The new Player should be able to:
1. Play 3D BD Isos
2. Bitstream DTS HD MA
3. Show ASS / SSA subtitles properly (Including their formatting) from mkv internal subtitles and also external .ssa files
Does something like that exist?
And no, i do NOT want to get an HTPC :)
Thanks a lot
Steve
I have been looking for something similar, but all the new 3D media players are based with the 1186 realtek chip, and they all have issues at the moment.

The Popcorn Hour A400 coming out in a few weeks uses the new SMP8911 SoC and can play back 3D BD ISOs.
Or the soon to be released Dune Base 4.0 3D or TVx03D models
Dune HD 3D models (http://myhtpcuk.wordpress.com/2012/09/02/ifa-day-2-dune-hd-3d-models/)
Mark.
You will only ever get bd lite menus on 3d models. If you want full menus AND 3d it has to be a disk spinner or the dreaded htpc

I see those have the SMP8670 sereis chips. Those don't support Blu-ray 3D. Only 3D with
- Generic side-by-side, top-bottom, MVC
- RealD (side-by-side output)
- Generic side-by-side, top-bottom, frame
packed output
Won't Dune be putting out a player with the SMP8910 series that will support Blu-ray 3D next year?
MVC is full BluRay 3D
Dune can't release an SMP8911 player as this chipset is exclusive to Popcorn Hour at the moment. However there have been no details on what Dune plan to use for the new Max 3D, so it could be the SMP8910/11 - if they do actually release this player as any new BluRay drive player needs to support Cinivia

If MVC is full Blu-ray 3D, then I wonder why they specifically say Blu-ray 3D in the spec sheet for the 8910 series but omit that on the spec sheet for the 8670 series?
They both show MVC in each spec sheet but the 8910 brochure has a separate line that says Blu-ray 3D.
That seems very misleading.
