Well,
According to the info Hi-Jack got from Kiss, they should provide us with an update for 508 today..
Personally I have my doubts!! :twisted:
But what do you guys think?? Will we get it today :?:

When it will be released, i can't say.
I am getting realy annoyed at this, the more we can't reach our contacts at KiSS (mails do not get respond and people we use to talk to can't be found on-line).
To be within the target of 14 days, tomorrow is also valid :-)
We released the news on 14-01-2004...

Everybody can have is own opinion on all this but...
I am getting tired of the repeated lack of info and silence...
Clearly someone at KiSS keeps a lid on the people we worked with before since they would never ignore us like this out of their own decision...
Too bad they get the load from customers instead of the one responsible...

I had a dream last night i was downloading firmware 2.8.8 for my 508 player. Sad i know :) I just wanted to post the "2.8.8" number because if that numbered version is released, i'm officially psychic!
New release will be 2.8.2...
How we know?
I crawled to Denmark, breaked in at KiSS, hacked their servers and computers to find traces of development on the new firmware, decompiled any info i found untill after 6 hours i found 2.8.2 listed in a file... so new version is 2.8.2...
I'm kidding...
It's not yet "that hard" to get information but it's close on becoming that hard... :wink:
They realy are playing hide and seek to the community...
I'm not talking for myself only...
Also others suffer from the silence and lack of decent info from KiSS!
I'm not surprised with this new delay, but I really can't understand who in KISS is responsible for this really bad company management ...... If I was the CEO I think that someone had already lost his job ......

I totally agree!
First rule in business is to not promise things you cannot realise.
But still, I have to say that I prefer a good release that we have to wait for over a sloppy release which we get in a short time.
i just hope that Kiss can make the wait worth while!
I agree with what you guys are saying but see it from a different perspective...
We don't have to find out like this!
They should hand the info to use about delays instead of making thousands just wait!
It's frustrating.
I rather have a decent release too but i think we all at least disserve the respect and support for KiSS to release the news about any delays.
As i said before, in my opinion there is one of the higher ranked "i'm the big guy here" with a way too big self-esteem at KiSS telling the others to not release any info!!
Someone sure does not have any idea about client relationships and how important that is to build a trust between company and customer, no matter if it's good or bad news.
In general, the contact we had at KiSS up to now, where decent and based on friendly conversations and these guys would not decide this silence on their own. Those guys i respect... so i want to have it said as it is:
It's not all bad at KiSS...but the one blocking info (and hiding truth from the public in this way) should be released. It causes more harm then good!!

New firmware is only nice if they realy lremove all the bugs , so be pacient.
Our wait was already quite long from 2.7.4 to 2.8.0: some bugs were corrected and new ones (really bigger !) were introduced :cry:
I hope this time everything will be ok :D Otherwise I think we can take some hardware from sigma and some components from China and make a good player by us with the help of the BIG SUPER ULTRA Dracula doing the firmware :wink: :wink: You're great !

well... I for one, would appreciate an update so that I could at least watch DVDs on my player... I'm having som trouble explaining to my girlfriend that I spent our money on a DVD player that doesn't really play DVDs :roll:
(and yes, I know I can downgrade... but i don't wanna!! :twisted: )

I don't want to start this a flaming thread...but... :-)
If it's only an issue on playback dvd's... downgrading would be the best option for now instead of using 2.8.0. We should not get off on eachother
because KiSS screwed this up...
I can understand how this all leads to being mad about spending money to something that does not work but have to agree it's better to wait a little while longer for a decent version... In the mean time Dracula and others are the people that make it better all the time for us all.

Got this message from Kiss today:
We hope to release firmware in the start of next week but the date is not set yet so we are not shure at all.
So Kiss still has hope that they can produce a new firmware but they are not sure when.
It's allways good to keep hope :D but even better to have plans.
UUhhmm will it be that the DP500 2.8 firmware going up with the new DP508 ????
There ar some buggs in it maby that's why they need more time ???

Only DP-508 will have new release for the fixes and DP-450 to add 1802 drive support.

Well if you really need the fixes you can use the 508 firmware on your 500 :)

We will wait.... 2.7.4 is good enough for me now!!! It's stable and everything works nearly fine. The player plays everything ok, even when I play pancakes it gives a picture on my TV! :wink:
