View Full Version : Kiss Dp-500/508 Vs. Guang Dong Cosmic Digital Players!!!

Can i ask one thing, I just visited the http://sigma-players.nd.e-wro.pl link Hi-Jack has on the main page and it seems very intriging that the kiss DP-500/508 are internally very similar to the models that Guang Dong Cosmic Digital Technology with just the front cover being different.

can you please let me know if I am on the right track or not??

you mean in the player matrix?

Kiss is one of the vendorers that is not using the Guang Dong Cosmic.

Many others like elta use Guang Dong Cosmic and just give them an other cover.

But looking at the inside of the player and the Kiss DP-500/8 it seems are very similar. Even the PCB board is very similar. Are you sure Kiss dont use the Guang Dong players with slight modifications such as case colour....

If you have a DP-500 compared this pic with ur model and let me know...

all the boards are sigma boards. so they are all nearly the same. the only difference is a little bit around. As far as i know kiss is not Guang Dong based.

So if they are all Sigma board, and they are also the same rev version, then it would make sense to conclude that the other players could also take HDD and perhaps be flashed with the DP firmware... is this a bit of a stab in the dark or rather wishful thinking. To be honest i love the DP 500>508 but just hate the visual looks as it looks as though it was hit constantly with an ugly stick.... :roll: Specially next to the other bits and bob which are silver... 8)

Hi Ferhada...

The modification depends on many things.
There need to be firmware available for the player with disk for the model one wishes to add a disk too like KiSS DP-500 and DP-508.

I doubt many will have the option.

The player on the picture you gave is not working. 8)
The IDE cable is not attached :-) lol

One thing KiSS defenatly does different is using good quality analogue components , I am not saying that this "Guang Dong" ;) players do not because I haven't saw themm, but in general the level of the components used in KiSS players higher then in most other DivX players.
