Hi everybody.

My dp-508 just arrived.
First test showed me, ist a great player.

But there is a question which would interest me.

When I go to standby mode on the remote I can still telent the player.
Does anyone know how much power the machine uses in standby mode?
I couldnt find it in the manul.

regards in advance :?:

Telnet opens the session on the HDD which means the HDD activates itself from power at that moment. (it's not that the player is running all the time)

You need to watch though, that you need to shut down the hdd to not keep it running all the time unless you use enhanced firmware that feature the option to shutdown the disk after xx time.
Power consumption is the same as you TV in standbye mode or even less...

I'll ask Langman, he's our guy for PSU thingy's...
Let's see... :-)

Hi Hi-Jack.

Thanks for the fast answer.

I am using et-big firmware 2.8.3.
where can I adjust the time for powerdown the hd?
Or is this time hardcoded?

On more question would be, is the a way to password protect telnet and ftp?

Hi Spoki,

There's not enough memory on the KiSS to implement all these things
for password and account checking so it's not possible (at the moment)

The time out is indeed hard coded in the firmware.
ET-BIG and Dracula versions have that feature though so you are setup correct to use it without the disk needing to shut down after you're done since it's automaticaly done afterwards :-)

Here is the post with the features of the FW you use:

Here is a page where you can compare all firmwares:

This will sure help you out on alot of questions. 8)
