HELP! I only yesterday got my dp-508 machine, and straight away put in four divx data disks to see if it would play them all. I did this after upgrading the firm to 2.3.8. All films play luvly.
So i spend the next 12 hours putting films on the machines hdd through the pc-link software, all ok.
Now, i put back in the disks that all play ok and it says "BAD DISK", and then shows me whats on the disk, also saying i cant play anything (all unsupported etc). I tried switching the machine off for a while and tried again, but still the same problem, it will not play the disk(s) that it had played the night before

any ideas please
Steve.

Hi Steveshq,

What is saying Bad Disc? DvD or HDD?
Did you add the movies in the "root" or in seperate folders?

Also, turn it of, do you mean turn it of by remote or Power Button completely?
That's what you need to do, turn it of for a minute by POWER BUTTON!

Talk to me in blue window on the main page :-) Faster

Updated post above...
If you say turned off, you should turn it off by the Power Button... :-)

thanks for the rapid response!
I put the disk in the machine and when the folders show up on the screen I then navigate to the one i want then hit 'Mark'.... then 'ok' and it then copies to the hdd. I have done this several times already with no problem. But now, the same disks are coming back with 'Bad Disk' not just one, but ALL of them. I can still get files from my pc to the machine but not from my divx data disks. But it had already worked! now it stopped and i have done nothing to change anything?

As i said, first try to shutdown the player using the POWER OFF button on the machine...
After a minute, power on again and read a disc...

This happens sometimes and rebooting the player helps...

YIPPEE!! IT WORKS!
Ihad turned off the power from the remote before.... now i done it for 3 mins at the button, disk in and away we go again.

This is the second time you have helped out, thank you very much.

Another small nagging problem..... four cc..... i have been re-encoding these in VirtualDub with good results so they play on the machine. But is there any codec upgrade for these machines so it will play these four cc files without the need to re-encode them again? The answer is probulary NO, or I would have seen it in the posts somewhere (unless your keeping it to yourself) lol, thanks again, and have a good day.

Hi again,

I'm afraid not.
Most codecs are supported but the KiSS is limited due to hardware for some. (DivX Pro, VBR sometimes and others)
The only solution for that would be re-encode.

Good that most movies play fine (90%) and for the others you need re-encode (easy, guide is in KiSS Info Docs).

As of the support, we do the best we can 8)
Glad you appreciate it.

Only if you know how.
It's in the Firmware it's it a little hard to do.

I think there's a tool out there though.
