HI ppl...look, I can't downgrade from 2.9.2 to the hybrid 2.9.0/2.9.1...
Everytime I try to make the downgrading, the KISS player tells me to unplug & plug the cable and after that he boots, but after 5/10 seconds the TV image begins to tremble and it has some white dots on it. It is as if I had changed some TV configuration....

I would like to know what is the problem... Another thing...it's not related with downgrading but it's also a problem... I've got some divx movies that don't start in the player. I insert the cd and the TV image becomes black and the KISS player stays at 0:00:00, but if I click on SETUP (on the controller (?)) it happens to appear every single description of the movie as if it was a normal movie playing.

The fact DiVX movies don't play can have multiple causes.
It can be Qpel, GMC or even bitstream. (Search the forum how to check for bitstream)

About the downgrade, use a lower version like 2.8.3, 2.8.5 first, then update to 2.9.1 Hybrid :-)
Enjoy

Yeap!!!

What you have is a typical problem present in new movies encoded with recent XVID codecs.

Packed Bitstream!!!

You can unpack with a small software called MPEG4Modifier.exe (just google it)

I'm still hoping there is no hardware limitation in DP-1000, cuz it seams this stuff is here to stay..

Good luck

I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere and I haven't found it.

My question is kind of related to that. Currently, I have firmware 2.9.3. (official) installed. Usually plays fine, but in almost all of the movies it plays certain parts of a movie (usually when there's lots of movement in the frames) in jerky way. From what I understand, it's the official firmware's fault and the hybrid firmware might remedy that.

Okay, so I want to get the hybrid 2.9.1 to my drive. Can I actually downgrade from 2.9.3. and be safe and successful about it? I've read somewhere else on the forums that I should first downgrade to say, 2.8.3. official and then from that upgrade to the hybrid one. Okay, so whenever I put in a CD with 2.8.3, the screen tells me to restart the machine. I do, but nothing ever changes... any ideas? How do I get the hybrid firmware to my machine? Thanks a lot,
Kamil

IDAS,

What Hi-Jack wrote about downgrading is true for official releases, since they are downgrade protected.

I think your problem lies someplace else. In the Hybrid firmware the downgrade protection was removed, so you shouldn't have a problem to downgrade. I believe you have not burned your boot disk correctly. Try to prepare a new boot-disk and don't forget to "close" the disk.

Good luck!

Look, first of all my dp 1000 (and many of them) don't have problems with packed bitstream in xvid codec, with new movies. Problem is in DivX503b1393p!!! With MPEG4Modifier program just check the movie. If it shows etc... DivX503b1393p
XviD0039
you must change DivX503b1393p into DivX999b000p !!!
Thats all and it works!!

Just posting to say I had the same problem as idas and I solved by unpacking Packed Bitstream with MPEG4Modifier.exe.

Its easy and fast and does not require re-encoding.

I had problems with the DivX503b1393p not the Packed Bitstream and I solved with MPEG Modifier.

I have the firmware 2.9.0 and I have changed the DVD drive because the original KISS drive stop working.
Can I change the firmware with another DVD drive inside the player?
The DVD drive I have now is a LG GDR-8163B and in the 'secret menu' appears as HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163B 0L15
If I update the firmware it will damage my DVD drive or the KISS player?

In many cases updates don't work with other drives. All you can do is try. It
will either fail or work and fail will happen before something is even changed
so risk is slim to break the unit. Never the less, it's at your own risk...

Loook at it this way, if you break it, at least you have a decent reason to
buy another player :-)
