View Full Version : .ts on Snazio
Though officially it's limited to 15.00 Mb/s according to the specs, we
flawlessly tested .TS files up to 25.00 Mb/s on the unit. Sound and video
Some test files sent to us where 45.00 Mb/s and here we can see tiny
jumps in video and distorted sound. All samples tested under 25.00 Mb/s
up to now, had no issues at all...
How do you know the bitrate? I might be on thin ice here, but I think there is a difference in "header bitrate" and "actual bitrate". I have never quite understood this, but according to discussions on http://www.altbinarieshdtv.com, header bitrate does not really say much about what the actual bitrate is.
Whats even more weird is the 2 different bitrates I get listed when using mpegstreamclip on the Mac. Stream bitrate is always lower than 20Mbps which makes sense given the broadcast capabilities of the US system. Video bitrate varies from 10Mbps up to 65Mbps ( Terminator)
Do you trust the stream bitrate or the Video bitrate. Or neither. ?
We base ourselves on the Video rate.
Same system where we decide rather it works or not on other players...
We know tested enough files to rule that 25.00Mb/s sgould not be a real issue...
We can't guarantee all files to work unless you stay below 15 Mb/s but 90% should play
fine. Some files with 65 Mb/s even could play but got skips...
I have just gotten mu Snazio sz1350, and my initally impression is that it serioulsly rocks! I am feeding HD feeds to my Panasonic TH37-pv500 and it looks ACE!
One n00b question: I have set it up to use DVI 1024*768 resolution as that is the closest to the native resolution for my screen (1027*720). However, whatever HD content I play, pressing "i" on the remote tells me that the resolution is 720*480. Does this sound correct?
Edit: Hmm...if I set ut to DVI 1080i the resolution reported by "i" is 1920*1080, if I set it to DVI 720p the resolution reported is1280*720.
What should I choose?
optimal resolution depends on the scaling and de-interlacing of each unit. 720p (1280x720) is the current standard for progressive HDTV and 1080i (1920 x 1080) for interlaced HDTV. I would say as long as it looks ace it is ok ;)
Native resolution you mention must be wrong it is more likely to be 1024x786?
720x480 does not seem correct. If it is true HD it should be one of the above resolutions.
Selecting a optimal resoluion depends on your equipment and the source material that you are using but even then diffrence might be marginal. Theoretically 1280x720 would seem logical to use that resolution as this is probably also supported by your TV and is close to the native resolution of your TV. In this case only the Snazio has to scale substantially if content with other resolutions is played. Scaling by the panasonic is kept at minimum.
Hoever there might be content (most likely 1920x1080 HD material) that is better played at 1080i especcially when the deinterlacer and scaler in the Panasonic would be superior.
It would seem that you are the person to report on this :)
congrats to your new player! I also have tons of HD-ts-files, waiting to be played on my projector.
Does the Snazio play well WMV-HD dvd's? And is WMA support by analog 5.1 output?
