MPC today got confirmed, the Zensonic Z500 for review is on the way with
DHL. We expect it by Wednesday, exactly the day that i have no time to
play around with it due to a Christmas drink at work but i sure will start with
it on Thursday...
Considering the players become better and better, we will use a different
Points System in 5 Categories on which the latest details still have to be
finished but you will see that in the review.
We'll keep you posted...

I expect the DVX700 tomorrow if all goes well.
The units are at Customs in Germany and hopefully get's released
tomorrow in the morning after which the European manger will jump in the
car and deliver one to me. At the same time, we have the opportunity to
talk to him a bit deeper on the TG vision for 2006.
In worse case, the unit will be here next week as either of us have time
after tomorrow evening...
MM-Vision has not listed the units yet but expects them before the end of the year.

I think you'll find it does have the standard syabas middleware. Not 100% sure but I didn't think I've seen any news to say otherwise.

I'm impressed zith it but would not be Hi-Jack if we not found room for
improvements so start looking forward to the review :-)

At least MP3 in steps of 2/4/8 seconds...
I haven't really analysed it yet bit it does FF/RW. (Was connected to PC for
screenshots so no sound) Needs further investigation when hooked up to
my stereo...

Finally ... at least one player that does it properly , also with FLAC support it gona be one hell of the machine :)
I wish the add APE too ... :(
I won't reveal too much but i can already say the score of Zensonic will be
the best ever after a review on MPC. Unfortunately a few things are missing
and being worked on and should reach the public end of this month in
release 1 and end of January in release 2.
Targetted Rev Release: Around 15 Jan (due to the hollidays and such)
Targetted release Trans-Gear: End January
Targetted KISS DP-600: End of April :-(
We also expect a portable (Like Archos) next week to be delivered so
there's a lot of work for me coming up :-)

You can buy them now from Australia only. We expect in March to have the
units at our partners. Shipping from Auistralia is about 90 dollars so if that
doesn't scare you...
(Remember Warranty lies in Australia as well then)

Hi!
Do you know which Auzzie retailers will ship to Europe/UK? Every retailer I found
only ships within Aus.
I need to get 2 of these babies. I was going to get a Snazzio player.
Based on your first impressions, should I hold off on getting the Snazzio
and import/wait for European release of the Z500?

Like with other players this one has been getting a lot of positive remarks BEFORE pepole actually test it. Now they have been out there for a little while in Australia and the picture has changed some... :cry:
Seems like itīs totally useless with the first firmware and my attention has shiftede back towards the KiSS DP-600.
WHY is it like this? Could i be so freakin hard make a stabil player witch plays most formats, with HD-support and a wireless NIC?

heh, I've been reading the Z500 forum a bit more this morning - and you're right it does seem to suffer from a lot of teething troubles.
If it can't play DVDs with 0-problems and standard DiVX/XVId movies at least as well as my Ģ20 Targa DiVX player then I shall go for the Snazzio
I'll give it a month or two before deciding.

The problem is that on Snazio you will have exactly same DVD problems because of same Sigma chip/SDK.
I agree we should not place the Zensonic Z500 on a statue but I dissagree
the player is "not worth" it's money but I can confirm there are issues that
should be remedied as soon as possible, at least before hitting Europe.
Z500 scored No1 spot on DivX Test so that counts for something. Trouble
with hissing sound has never been confirmed (we've seen several units)
and the weakest point on Zensonic is Picture section and Operational
possibilities in some cases and sections.
I'm sure by the time it's released a few updates will have been released.
Let's look back at the LinkPlayer2 from IO Data for instance who grew and
grew so fast we could not keep up with it.
If compared with the best current player in Europe (Snazio*) tested by MPC,
i can see some advantages on the Zensonic and some on the Snazio.
Close Match and the future FW updates will decide which polayer will
become the absolute Nr1 for months to come. (If KISS will and can
compete is a open Question)

Well its been a few weeks now since I have got my Z500.
Reading through the Z500 forums, I can see that a few people are having some probs.
I for one aren't experiencing half the delemas that are posted.
Not saying that it is perfect but I am still enjoying my player and still talk it up to people and await for the updates.
I believe that I buy in to this type of product with the full knowledge that it is still a work in progress. (maybe I am just easily pleased and just have too much money to throw around :lol: )
I will say this though that I have read through a few of the bigger forums and I have not ever seen a more active negative poster than that Wayne character you banned Hi-Jack 8O . I dont want to harp on it that but as you closed off the thread I just wanted to offer my support to your decision.
People like that ruin it for me and i just get bored real quick with there comments.
I like to read about fixes and be informed on the most uptodate products not listen to whingers.
There are always people who go off in forums but generally not so often on the same topic that he has proved to be wrong with anyway.
Anyway good decision.

I dunno if you are up to date with the latest beta release from Zensonic
which is V3. There's already progress made for a few major things and
expected is they will release a public version mid to end februari.
i'll catch up with the plans during the week.

Hi-Jack, given that it seems that all the major contenders for HD players have some problems, which will all hoepfully be fixed by firmware updates, is there any chance that you could agree to do a comparative review of the Zensonic, Snazzio and Transgear players in a few months time (maybe in March when all are available to buy in Europe).
That should then give the companies chance to have fixed the main problems, and also give a chance to see how good the companies are at supporting the players. Good as your reviews are, they give a snapshot of how the player performed at the time of writing, so an update would be useful for those of us who are biding our time, waiting for a stable player (well, we can dream)...

Skazola, I agree with you. The review I thought was fair and Hi-Jack put out a detailed review of the unit.
And about Wayne, dont even get me started on that wanker. His post here: http://www.mpcclub.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=7186 confirmed to me that he is deranged. I think he has some serious mental issues. He PMed me on the Z500 forums telling me how bad the unit was and when I told him what I thought, he started getting pissed off at me and then told everyone I asked him to take it on PM which I never did and when I asked him to show this to me, he said I edited it out. Talk about a liar and then he calls everyone else a liar. And then the coward disables his PM after hurling abusive language at me on another forum before I had a chance to respond to him. Now he comes on here with another name and starts abusing the admin. Goes to show you this guys character. No one can take him seriously.
I am glad Hi-Jack banned the immature wanker. He deserved it.
Hi-Jack please keep us posted on the beta. Seems from your post there have been quite a few things going on behind the scenes. Cant wait for the new firmware.
We did plan a comparisson but it won't be full detailed.
What we'll do is select which one is best early April considering several
updates have been given. At this moment it will be hard for Snazio* to
match the build Quality of Z500 and it will be hard for both Zensonic and
Snazio to offer the options Trans-gear is offering with internal HDD unless
they implement DVD playback.
All products really have advantages and dissadvantages and to select which
ons is best really depends on the features you are looking for most. That's
why we can't state which one is best and the Editor's Choice is not offered to
one player only!
We will however do something in the style of selecting the best in our
opinion and of course, keep track of all changes made during the time :-)

I think a comparison is very cool.
