View Full Version : DP-1500 "kill" dp500serv on NSLU2

Since a couple of days I have a new DP-1500 beside my DP-558.
Both units are connected over a switch with the NSLU2. Sometimes during playback stuff (divx, mp3) from the NSLU2 with the new DP-1500 the connection is lost and DP-1500 says there is no PC-Link server. The "old" DP-558 lose connection too in this case. All the other "online-stuff" (Webradio, TV-Guide) works well. So there is no other way to restart the NSLU2.
Does anybody know, why this happens? Maybe dp500serv doesn't support two units at the same time?

I have 2 units (dp508) with no problems.

So I did some further unwanted :) tests.
The "troika" of NSLU2, DP-1500 and DP-558 worked well the last two weeks. Playing different media at the same time was no problem. But yesterday I did the following and the NSLU crashes again.
I went to the dpserv-intern KML page (the site with player ID, installed FW and so on) with my 1500 to listen Webradio 3 (KiSS Portal PL --> Tinystocks --> WR3). After that I did the same with the 558. It worked well. BUT next time I tried to play a file from the NSLU2 with the 1500 the Slug crashed. No more PC-Link server available (for 1500 and for 558). Normal NSLU2 functions were still available.
My (maybe stupid) idea: The KML page on the NSLU2 is generated dynamically (it depends on the player wich is looking at these page). It could be that dpserv has a problem with handeling two different players on the same site.
Would someone with two different KiSS players test this also. Just visiting the KML page alternate and report the results here?
@ BIG: What do you think about my theory?

Beging the ('retired') programmer of the KML support on the NSLU2 I can say your conclusions are right.

O.K. Good to know. That means that the KML-site is now restricted area for the DP-558, because Webradio 3 is supported by the player itself.
Maybe a footnote in the dpserv-readme should be added.
