I recently got a new kiss dp-600, i use hdmi-dvi connection to my samsung plasma(not hd ready)

Suprisingly it all works well with both dvd an other media files, not so many bugs that other users describe.

BUT.. when i stream divx files over wi-fi the movie shows in widescreen with HUGE black bars ,ok i know it usually is but with other players you can infact stretch or change the aspect ratio!

Is there no way to zoom or change this to fill the entire screen??

Why do you (and others) want to distort the image?

Not a question of distorting, but of optimizing the screen area. depending ofcourse on the encoded size....

If you don't wanna watch the black bars that the player puts on 4:3 movies then you will be distorting the image.

"Others", thats me :). Mads_M is right, you do distort the image. But the results gets better on some tv sets then others. I remember on my JVC 32 CRT it got really bad but on my LG 42 Plasma it the results is good. This probably has no technical explanation. It just "seems" to get better the bigger screen you have.

What's the point of bying a HD player and a large screen, only to distort the image and make everyone's faces look like E.T?

Well you could have an option, for instance press and hold the zoom button, to switch between 16:9 zoom and 16:9.

The result is not that bad Mads_M!
:P :D

I don't really care how you want to watch stuff on your TV, but I don't want busy KiSS developers wasting valuable time on features that will actually distort the image instead of improving it.

Set your DP-600 output to 4:3 and use your TV set's features to manipulate the image.

i dont really care if the picture get distorted... i just wanna have the movie streaming on my whole screen.. i just dont get the point in buying a 42 inch plasma if you get to see half the picture it can show..

Is there no way to stretch the pic with the kiss player?
Cause when i try to stretch with the tv options i just get the choice between 16:9 and 4:3...

No one knows?

The point? You are like the people who didn't like widescreen videos because it left horizontal bars on their 4:3 TV's. PAN and SCAN was invented because of guys like you.

Maybe you should contact the people who made your TV

I haven't had a problem with any 16:9 xvid files. Are you sure you have everything setup correctly?

@andralerv

There is a bug in the 4:3 settings, if you switch from 16:9 to 4:3 it works, you have your entire screen filled with the picture on a 4:3 movie, but if you boot your player with 4:3 setting it switch automaticaly back to 16:9, doesn't matter if setting is stil on 4:3, you have to toggle once betwine 16:9 and 4:3 to get the picture filled. Maybe this is what you mean ?

Not on my screen. 4:3 movies actually use a little too much screen space as they are slightly zoomed by the player, leaving the vertical bars slightly too narrow.
