KiSS-Technology will be at the IFA in September, introducing 2 new products. At least one of them, is already known by MPC Visitors which is the Dp-1600, a Small Form Factor off the Dp-600 in the same design as it's predecessor, the Dp-1500 series. Beside the Dp-600, also the MediaLink will be presented which is a Streaming Station between the PC and TV with online Access to news and Streaming Content. It is expected to have latest Intel Technology on board called WiiF which is later also introduced in the older models already released like Dp-600 and possibly the Dp-558 / VR-558.

After we heard about a rumor about one of the firmware's was being redeveloped from scratch, we approached KiSS with the request rather this was correct or not. KiSS stated it is busy redeveloping KiSS DP-600 FW from scratch but could not hand out any details about the changes yet.
On the other hand, KiSS announced a couple weeks ago it had found a possible solution for the White Noise issue in the recorder Series but no new info had become available at this time from the people involved in testing. We however have good news for the owners of a VR-558 who are eagerly awaiting the same update as released for the DP-558 series. KiSS is working on it and the first beta versions are already being tested. no dates are confirmed but we do expect a new release during the next couple of weeks.

This kind of covers KiSS for the rest of 2006 and I have to add, I could not shake the feeling KISS is cooking something in their Kitchen's at Denmark for making a big bang re-entry in 2007. I could be wrong, but I developed some intelligence over the years and hence, that's what I was thinking.

Enjoy
Hi-jack

"News" about "redeveloping" the firmware is not a news at all. Sigma recently released revised version of their SDK that suppose to have many fixes but behave differently then prev. version (and give more options) so now ALL "Sigma based" vendors "rewriting" the firmware.
It's not really from the scretch, middleware, subtitles , UI and such remains the same but many of playback related code , HDMI etc are get rewritten.

My bet - KiSS will be the last of all vendors to relaese it and it will have most bugs and problems (as usual).

Ts ts, why so negative? Let us have a positive look forward to a new firmware in which all problems are gone (or at least the biggest bugs).

So long

How long do you already wait for such a firmware, swissbit? Without 3rd-party-support like the one from MartinB you could still not really use your DP-558... :cry:

@Hi-Jack: Thanks for the news!

I agree ... the only thing is that I can not undertstand is why KISS don't pay to someone who will fix the bugs for a month and will raise the sales .

What i dont understand is, why can martinB do what kiss should have done in a week orso and why does it take kiss at least 6 months.
