I need a program that edits DivX but one like Windows Movie Maker. Very simple, easy and quick. The only problem with movie maker is that it only encodes in WMV and because I want to encode movies with fights, explosions and pursuits the DivX codec is the best. But I don't want nothing like VirtualDub because itīs very complicated and confusing.

Thanks

What kind of editing do you need to do?

I disagree in virtualdubmod being hard to use, but yet again I only use it to cut out commercials and remove the teletext lines from the recordings I make on my DP-558!

Are your needs anywhere near this? If so I can make you some sort of step by step guide!

Look at Xilisoft, it's not free but pretty good.
We are test driving their software now.

If it's really editing you want to do, and the movies are already in AVI
format, why not just use AVI Cutter to cut the scenes out you want.

If you want to do special things with the movies, then you will have to loook at some more sophisticated tools like... I don't know...
www.videohelp.com is a very good source :-)

It's only to remove commercials. Those avi splitters/cutters are usually discribed as a program to deal with small files so there may be some quality loss I think. Am I wrong? And virtualdub. When I want to load a video in the timeline I takes the same duration of the video. And in WMM I can easily choose the right clips I want to remove by just selecting them like in windows explorer. In virtualdub I can't even select the clips I want to remove :?

I found a really great program - VideoReDo. I'll just leave the video as mpeg
