Hi all,
I have just installed the 3.0 version of PC-Link (after duly uninstalling the 1.30 version first). Now I don't have any subtitles on my movies. I have some *.avi movies with *.srt subtitles installed in the same foldes, having excactly the same name, but no subtitles. They worked perfectly with the 1.30 version. Can anyone confirm this behaviour?
It might have something to do with the new extension selection?
-or maybe I just did something wrong somewehere
Using VR-558 which I just updated to firmware 1.1.7 without problems.....
Thanks in advance!

-> JakeTheSnake:
I think you have to either share the srt files explicitly in the same "virtual" pclink dir as the avi files, or you have to add the directory containing all the files as a live dir.
The old pclink shared all your files. Also the ones you hadn't explicitly added to pclink. This is an obvious security breach, and it seems the new pclink behaves better. It only gives the player access to the files you explicitly share.

You probably also have to add the file extension (*.srt) to your list of video extensions in the settings menu.
I like FreeKiSS a lot, but I will try this new version of KiSS PC-Link

i have noticed with the new version of pc link it plays dvd from my computer better than the previous version. I know dvd are to big to be streamed but ive noticed a difference that it streams better from my pc now with 80% signal quality. Hope with another upgrade we could stream dvd without cutting, i like how now we can add .mp4 files to the playlist. I streamed a 8mb .mp4 movie trailer and played well, and divx no probs.

Hi "Y_D_M",
Thanks for your reply. Yes, that was excactly what had to be done. As soon as I manually added *.srt to the list of video extensions, everything worked like a charm again. So, no probs. Thanks
With PC-Link v.0.0.3 my DP-600 is playing now everythig.
Even *.ts 37 Mbps !!!! (LG Demo 1080i) while playing CPU is 6 - 8%.
In this mode DFP-600 is the best HD Net player now.
Don't use loader or USB ex HDD.
Only PC-Link v.3.

pc link is now the best streaming client
Hi,
In the new version of pc-link *.m3u playlist extention is in the list of default extentions and I am able to add my playlist files. However I could not see and access these files from Kiss.
Do you know if there is support for the playlist and how it works?
regards,
Tevfik
Why isnt there an option to have PClink automatically startup when i switch my computer on or am i missing something? freekiss does it. I guess i could always add a shortcut to my startup folder
Well after having a bit of a mess around with it ive gone back to freekiss 0.9. The live folder function doesnt work well if your folders are large and contain more folders inside. For example i added my docs to the live folder, now it can see all the folders inside here but then doesnt see the media content. If I just add say my pictures to the live folder all is ok. I tried adding drive D: to the live folders and it wouldnt even see it on my kiss player. Adding just a small folder from drive d: works ok though. Also the lack of automatically starting up on boot is annoying so ive gone back to freekiss which has always worked well for me and does everything.

I think a live folder only shows the files that have one of the extensions you have set up in the settings menu. The size of the folder shouldn't have anything to do with it, except that it may take longer to refresh a folder with lots of files.
Great yellow_dripping_madness! You solved my problem of srt sub files which I thought I add to add one by one. In fact I just added *.srt in the extensions settings and here you go, my live folder shows my subrips now :D

glad to hear it nitzer71 :-)
If anybody wants live folders to show ALL files, put a * in the extension list in the settings menu (and delete all the other entries, since they won't matter anyway with a * present).
You probably also have to add the file extension (*.srt) to your list of video extensions in the settings menu.
I do Have problems with subs on PC link. I tried to change .srt to .sub but nothing???
Any one have a clue?
.srt is the correct extension. Make sure the .srt has the completely same name as the video file (except of course the extension itself).
As far as I can tell from reading other posts here at MPC Club, it should be possible to create playlists in Windows Media Player, save it as *.M3U and finally use the playlist from my Kiss DP558.
I can not get this to work.
Is there som special thing I have to do to make this work?

What is the problem with adding PC-Link to the startup menu. Then it will start automatically when the computer is switched on.
Does anyone have a link to PC-Link version 3.0? The only thing I can find on KiSS' website is version 3.0.5.
