View Full Version : Problem playing some ISOs
...could have found a bug here, it involves playing ISOs over the LAN, probably HDD too but yet to test.
I have a lot of DVDs where only the main feature was ripped and then made into an iso (no menus/extras .. just straight into the film). When I play these the film doesnt start at the beginning, it skips what would appear to be 1 or 2 chapters into it. The 1st time this happened I was able to << back to the beginning and watch the film but after a couple of goes the player refuses to play any further ISO files until after a reset. I'm going to do a bit more testing but what's the best way to report this to them as a bug, if that is indeed what it is.
Cheers,
Adam
You can make ISO in a lot of ways and it's more then normal some things
don't work as they should in the end. I usually use DVD Shrink to compress
the video's including menus and options and make IS files. I'm using the
TviX for over a year now and i don't remember it ever letting me down...
You can use the Support options at www.Dvico.com to report it.
You also might try other tools to make the ISO files to see if it is better.
Enjoy

Thanks! 'Normal' DVDs work fine so I'm not convinced it's how I'm making them .. I'm using OS X's Disk Utility tool which grabs the disk and makes an image with zero manipulation - would have thought that was as clean as you could get :)
...anyways, I'll have a play and see if there's something worth reporting - it's a minor glitch on a very impressive bit of kit.

I'm seeing exactly the same problem with ISO's that contains just the main movie that I have created using DVDShrink.

More info ...
It's not 'all' ISOs with main feature only that are doing this, only 1 so far - strange! Have also noticed general problems with ISOs though ... if I open one up and do some chapter skipping etc.. it seems to 'break' the player's ability to play ISOs until after a restart .. other files still play fine.
I'm going to report it as a bug and resort to ripping VIDEO_TS files for now I think.
