View Full Version : HD
Hi
I just tried to play HD clip on my tvix m5000 and the sample worked fine but the main clip didnt even start .....
it works fine in my PC
the clip I tried :
CSI.Miami.S05E05.720p.HDTV.AC3.5.1.XviD-BamHD
any tips why it dont starts?
/F
When you say didn't start, did you get a blank screen?
I've had a few Xvid files that i thought were not working but they just took a while to get started, some as long as 20+ secs.
Hi
It looks like it will start as normal but after a cuple of seconds it goes back to folders view again.

I cant find the BamHD version on the newsgroups so i cant test it myself.
You could load it into virtualdub and post the file info so we can see the file specs.
Managed to find the NFO file for the above and the resolution is 1280 X 720. If you loaded this into Tvix manager it would say the Xvid file is unsupported due to the resolution width greater than 800.
I tried a HD Xvid that had a width of 960 and although the file was watchable it did keep hesitating every few seconds.
Hmmm, strange...
I don't have any problems playing back HR.HDTV XVid's with resolutions of 960x528.

To be honest the hesitation was barely noticable, less than that when watching a NTSC dvd with the Tvix set to PAL... our lass still couldn't see it when i kept pointing it out to her
I just got a file that wouldn't play either, also high res xvid with AC3-5.1.
checked it with MpegMod; says it's a Packed Xvid. Unpacked did help en the tvix played the file but not smooth. Very choppy
Think it's somekind of unsupported codec

Can you check the file with Tvix manager and tell me what the Audio's suggested buffer size is....thanks.
Hi
I opend the files in the manager and the both was unsuported.
But the sample file played well but the main clip didnt
I cant see any differace on them....

If you right click on the file in Tvix manager and choose detail you will see the suggested buffer size for the audio in part 3..... what does it say?

I converted 3 720P x264 movies (BBC HD Planet Earth) to 720P Xvid with AC3. I did the same conversion for all files and only 1 of the 3 plays.
In TVIXmanager it tells me that all are unsupported, even the one that plays. Problem is "cannot support more than 800 pixels of width." or "cannot support more than 414,720 pixels of width*height."
That is just BS because i play a lot of TV episodes that is HR.HDTV(960*540) and 720P (1280*720).
Anyone have any suggestions to help solve my problem?
Thanks.
The reason i asked was that all the Xvids that i've watched that have not played smoothly have had a audio buffer size of 0, but the ones that have played fine and had AC3 audio, have had a buffer of 24,000.
You're sample has 24,000 which you say plays ok, but the other has a much lower buffer, which maybe the cause of the problem.

Ignore the 800 pixels info. I mentioned this to DViCO and they said that Tvix manager was designed for the other media players they produce.
How do I change buffer size ?

The only way i've found to get the files to play smoothly is to pass the file through virtualdub.
Load the file then choose fast or normal recompress, choose Xvid as the compression codec, configured to give approx same size file so as not to affect quality and leave audio as direct stream copy.
virtualdub couldent opend the file

Looking at the stats you posted the file is ~45mins long and ~1.5 gig in size....files with these stats are usually H.264 files... if so, that's you're problem as the Tvix doesn't play them...and virtualdub would not accept it

Direct stream on both video and audio, and save as avi worked for me to change the buffer. I shall try the video later an see if it helped.

I noticed this too... but even tho the buffer has changed the file played the same as before, to get it to play smoothly it had to be recompressed.
I have no idea what virtualdub does so can't explain it :?
I have noticed that alot of the files that have playback problems did not have packed bitstreams.... so i ran them through MPEG4modifier to pack the bitstream, and the files played perfectly. The buffer size on these files was not 24,000 but around 1,800.
The wierd thing is that I reencoded 3 files with the same settings and only 1 worked!
I'll give it a go tomorrow, now its time for my beautysleep. ;)
