What is kissdx?

kissdx is a PC-Link clone for KiSS media players, based for the most part on kissd, with added features for DVD, video and picture playback.

As of 2006-11-11 the enhancements are

Playback of the DVD titles in a VIDEO_TS folder
Playback of the DVD titles in a DVD ISO image
Arbitrary character set translation between server and player
Wild-card search for subtitle files, relaxing the strict subtitle file naming rules normally imposed by by KiSS players
Scaling of pictures to better fit TV screen, improve performance, and to avoid display problems with some files
Caching of scaled pictures to speed up the display of pictures that have already been displayed once

What is this forum?

This is the place to discuss development of kissdx with fellow developers, and also to discuss kissdx in general: Bugs, feature requests, etc...

How do we maintain the source code

The source code resides in a Subversion repository maintained by bluediver. The following page has instructions on how to access the repository from a development environment (I use Eclipse 3.2) and the source can also be browsed there:

Published 2006-10-23. Will probably be updated regularly.
Last edit: Introduced latest features and svn repository.

I might add that kissdx is already capable of streaming ISO/DVD files to
the KISS player from PC/NAS. A package is in preparation for NSLU2 and
Synology installation...

There is need for focus on implementing Subtitle and Audio support...
Ideas for improvements and enhancements can also be released inside
these forums as is this the place where you will get the necessary support if
you get in trouble :-)

Enjoy/

As bluediver writes, he now has the kissdx source is in his Subversion repository. When time permits, I will switch to using his repository for regular check-out / commit when developing. Read-only access will be open, and he will create accounts for people who want to join in the development.

That's the plan. Right, bluediver?

sure Vit, you are right

BTW, i do not master as you the day to day usage of svn,
but i might guess that other developer will propose patches that you need to commit ? I mean that to insure the big direction, any developer may not definitively push his code without any validation ?

kissdx, is your code, and if i need any configuration action is needed in svn, i keep listening from you

(today was focused in changing my dvd drive of dp558, according missing manual... cool)
