View Full Version : Loud sound when Scheduled Recording begins
I love the new Stage2 firmware :) No major problems so far.
There is only one tiny problem I have, and I don't know if and how to get rid of it.
As soon as a scheduled recording begins, the sound gets much louder. As soon as that happens I throw myself on the remote, and put the sound way down again. Never had this problem with prior firmwares.
Is there a way to put it down by default?
Nope, it's one of the few (many) bugs of the player...

sorry Kes but like i told all others please install original 1.1.7 from kiss before making a conclusion that this problem is related to stage2
i get so many reports (PM) of users telling me "after stage2 i got WN/OOS/0kb recording etc etc" that i always ask to install original before making this conclusion.
Stage2 cant fix the bugs on the "core"
But please post a message to kiss support and paste the answer in the forum
i think its possible to make a workaround on this problem but it wil be a dirty hack (symlink the mediaplayer and then put a lower value in the nvram before starting the mediaplayer)
Didn't mean to imply it was a Stage2 bug, but it's still good to know it's not a Stage2 bug but a core 1.17 bug :) I knew you would fix it if it was a fixable bug. But I actually thought I might be overlooking some setting again.
I'll send an email to KiSS and see what they'll say about it. Will post the answer here too ofcourse.
Thanks for the quick resonse.
Kes
Edit: Email send to KiSS.
Two hours later I got a reply from KiSS (although I doubt this solution will work):

Dear Valued KiSS Customer,
Thank you for contacting KiSS Technical Support.
It seems that you need to Reflash the firmware (1.1.7) on DP-558 so Kindly follow the procedure given below :-
- First download the update from our website:
http://www.kiss-technology.com/?p=hot_news&v=users
- Unpack the .zip file.
- Now you have an .iso file
- Open Nero Burning Rom and burn the .iso file as an image.
- Make sure that you burn at max x8 speed, No Multi-session, and finalize!
(Minimum burning speed recommended for avoiding errors during burning the firmware to the disc)
- When the CD is burned, you put it into the player and pull out the power plug behind the player.
- Put back the power plug behind the player and wait 15-20 sec.
- Now BOOTING should be written in the display.'
- When you get a picture on the screen, choose FULL update!
- When the update is finished, the tray will come out.
- Take the update CD out, and restart the player. ON/OFF or (pull out the power plug behind the player and put it back)
Please reply us back with the result.
Thank you for choosing KiSS once again.

"It seems that you need to Reflash the firmware..."
ROTFL (Rolling On The Floor Laughing)
But... it's so sad! :?
PS: SCNR (Sorry, Could Not Resist)
Well.....lets see this positively. At least they responded withing 2 hours after I send them an email :D
Good custormer as I am...I've tried their solution. Without any good results (ofcourse).
So I've send them another email with my results. Now we can only wait on response, and the next step to fix this.
Edit:
Got a response right away. They advise to go back to 1.1.6.
Yeah...but then I will loose fixes in 1.1.7 again, so I won't do that. I'll sit it out and wait for 1.1.8 to appear :)
(Crap. After installing the original 1.1.7 firmware, my old (original) DVD-rom completely broke down, and won't read anything anymore. Can't flash Stage2 anymore. This sucks.)
