View Full Version : TViX HDD and ftp speed upload
hej
what upload speed from pc to the hd m-5000a is normal my is 2-3mb
That's normal :-)
The player's chip can't handle much higher rates then that. If you ant it to
be faster, use USB connection to PC....
Hi all,
I don't know if i am doing something wrong with this FTP thing.
I get a really poor connection. I am using LeechFTP and i am able to connect but it takes at least a couple of minutes before connection is established. 9 times out of ten it does not connect. The response is "! Socket Error: connection reset by peer".
I am using DHCP and i am getting the ip address fine.
I have used both a Gui based ftp client and the dos one. When using the dos window i get the response, "connection closed by host".
I have had it connected to my modem directly getting an external IP adress and also on my router also getting internal ip addresses. I have used both the latest beta FW and the latest stable fw 1.9.5 A.
Can someone help me understand what i am doing wrong. I have also tried with static ip address but no luck there either. It works the same.
The light is flashing on the lan port on the tvix so i guess everything is working fine.
Please, any information on this would be great.
Cheers,
/T
To give you all some more info. I have a single partition disk inside the tvix. I am not using any Firewall in windows XP, neither in my router, i switched it of for testing purposes.

I recently bought a 'used' TviX-5000 and upgraded the firmware to version 2.0.5.
I had hoped to use it also as a NAS, but the connection is very poor; slow speeds and sometimes a connection fails. After a failure I have to reboot the system to get it working again; only ftp, playing seems to work fine.
I use no firewall on my laptop. The Tvix is connected, by wire, to my wireless access point, which connects to the internet (wire) and my laptop (wireless)
The winows explorer doesn't seem to want to connect to the Tvix. Filezilla-client does, but very poor.
Anyone with a good working ftp server on the Tvix?
I use TotalCommander.
Works well, but times out if the connection is idle too long. Then I sometimes have to reboot.
I have an all wired network.

For me it takes about 15 min to transfer a 4.7 GB ISO file via FTP to my TWIX-4000. It's not superfast, but fast enough.
I am useing ws-ftp 2007 and its necceary to use these settings
1. disable feat option
2. set connections to 1
3. set keep alive to 10 sec
4. set te connection to pasive
otherwise the tvix 4000 desconnects and the file transfer fails.
also the max speed is 2800 Kbps at a 1Gb network.
