I'm teaching myself how to code in JavaScript, and what better way to learn than to experiment with writing plugins for the Dune platform?

I've created a simple JavaScript wrapper for the HTTP API and uploaded it to GitHub. It provides a simple and clean programming interface for controlling the player which it runs on.

Note: If you know how to (which I don't), you'll still want to use the PHP libraries instead.

Recent mover from Zapatti - tool is great work! However I have one difficulty. There are a number of films which are not being processed - evern though they are in both TMDB and IMDB.

Two examples:

1408 - in TMDB as http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/3021-1408 and IMDB as http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0450385/

In Yadis the file reports as "Title not Found in the database" and if I place tt0450385 in the change title field, it's reported as "Incorrect or Not Found IMDB ID".

Also 2012 - in TMDB as http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/14161-2012 and IMDB as http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1190080/. The same results as above :-(

I've tried searching using words, rather than numbers.
I've included the year of the film when searching e.g. 2012 (2009) - no luck.
I've checked for duplicate files/ folders - no duplicates.

Updated Troubleshooting:

I've copy/ pasted the exact titles used in TMDB or IMDB - title still not found

I've noticed that most of the films, which I'm having difficulty are number based, as the two examples above, yet "9", "310 to Yuma" and "21" all got detected/ processed correctly.

If anyone can shed any light onto this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I have a 101 and a 301 both with an original dune dvb-t stick. The problem is that neither of them wants to start playing my DVB-T channels unless they get an IP address then they can sync the time trough the internet. (i guess its needed because of EPG or something like that). What about those people who just want to use it without network? (like my parents) Shutting off the ethernet port not working, an error pops up that i should switch on the ethernet...

The main problem i guess is time sync: i let him sync, then i unplug the internet, and its still working. So it seems like its not gonna work without time sync.

Any idea, how to make it work without internet?

My idea would be that i MANUALLY set the time, but i did not found any way to do that, only sync trough server is available AFAIK. Btw this whole time sync thing trough internet seems like a really weird thing to do, becouse i think DVB-T broadcast includes some kind of "timestamp" with the signal so why use internet sync when u can sync to the timestamp...

There are empty placeholders (that point to nowhere currently and are disabled) in the store for Vudu, Blockbuster, Amazonstore (?!?), Pandora, Hulu, Netflix,z-wave and others .. (incl a SIP phone app?!?!) The same items are also ready as empty placeholders in the dune main menu. Even the icon files and names are ready but left blank for now. Not sure what all this means though. Hope its good ;)

New functionality has been added to the abilities of the dune_folder.txt controls. Here are several tested to work in the new firmware - heck! they might even work with older firmwares but were not mentioned in the howtos.

orientation = vertical|horizontal (default vertical)
--> changes scroll direction from up-down to left-right

scroll_animation_enabled = yes|no (default no)
--> enables icon scrolling during menu navigation. Previously only the selection box is animated and the items/icons are just refreshed to new locations. This enables the smooth animated look - works best with horizontal scrolling

paint_unselected_caption=yes|no (default ... not sure)
--> as written, paints the caption under icons when not selected

paint_widget = yes|no (default yes)
--> paints the clock widget

paint_widget_background = yes|no (default yes)
--> paints the background of the clock widget. note that paint_widget seems to take priority over this.

paint_path_box_background = yes|no (default yes)
--> same as above but for the folder path section. Priority goes towards the paint_path option.

cycle_mode_enabled = yes|no (default no)
--> allows cyclic navigation. Once you reach the end of the items, navigation loops back to the first items.

cycle_mode_gap=auto|yes|no (default none)
--> not sure what this does. It works without it ... and doesn't seem to affect much with it either.

badge_icon_path = [image] (default none)
--> unknown use. runs with paint_badge_icons Will NOT work with user items/folders - only with firmware items for setup/audio/video/torrent/etc.

item_badge_icon_path = [image] (default none)
--> unknown use. runs with paint_badge_icons but will NOT work with user items/folders - only with firmware items for setup/audio/video/torrent/etc.

icon_auto_centered = yes|no (default unknown)
--> center icons in badge box.

num_icons = N
--> unknown use. runs with paint_badge_icons to show number of icons on screen. Will NOT work with user items/folders - only with firmware items for setup/audio/video/torrent/etc. MUST equal to number of icons to be shown on screen else GUI crashes and resets the player to default options [USE WITH CARE!]

id = [variable name]
--> unknown use. To identify sections in menu??

hidden_badge_box = yes|no (default unknown)
--> unknown use. to hide badge boxes? But that would make paint_badge_box=no redundant right?

item_detailed_info_auto_line_break = yes|no (default no)
--> to allow for auto line break for detailed info in right panel in exicon and exlist configurations. First line is always painted as title (which can be affected by the option title color). To manually add line breaks use the pipe symbol '|'

other unused options (untested and unknown uses)

item_paint_caption_within_icon
item_caption_within_icon_color
icon_keep_aspect_ratio
icon_fit_scale_factor
extra_content_objects
sandwich_icon_keep_aspect_ratio

Combining the new options you can acheive a pseudo coverflow effect (like the one in iTunes) as shown below.

LIMITATIONS:
Cyclic mode seems to work only in icon mode (may not /does not work with list/exlist/exicon). It also requires a MINIMUM 5 columns to work else scrolling reverts back to normal animated selection box. When num_cols is set to 5 (and above) the selection box is centered and is static in position. Then the item scrolling animation takes over (see example in the 'black' skin from dunestore)
num_cols can be higher than 5 but the number must be divisible by 2 with a remainder of 1 (i.e. 7,9,11 are okay larger numbers make things too small)

To acheive the effect in the screenshots above these are the lines in my dune_folder.txt with explanation for each line

I have some weired problem lately. Some new created mkv's made by "MakeMKV" don't play on my dune H1. Instead of starting the film it displays the filename and the selection "Press I for Fileinformation / Press Enter for playlist."

Any idea what get's these mkv's wrong or what is different here to previous converted files which work fine? They are all 1:1 copies of my blurays, which i convert to mkv for convenient playback on my dune.

OK, I have a lot of pictures, but I can´t see the process "/usr/local/sbin/ImR_all -soft /Qmultimedia" after telneting the NAS.

#4: I think I don´t use this in my home network

#7: I haven´t installed this programms and I can´t see this programms :(

I am thinking of getting a separate player and setting it up downstairs but don't necessarily want to spend as much for another HD Max. Is the HD TV102W a nice, cheaper alternative?

Mainly what I need it to do is stream a large assortment of HD quality videos - don't need a bluray player and don't need a hard drive attached to the player since streaming through WHS works fine.
