Default Streamin avi and wmv files via wlan

I have problems with streaming avi and wmv video files on the cs 505.

Browsing through a folder with those files on synology will only show the wmv files but when I try to play them, it will not. Avi files are not even viewable in the folder menu. The only video files I am be able to stream so far are mpg files.

I think I read somewhere that streaming avi files via wlan should work well. Am I wrong?

No you are not wrong. It seems however you are doing something wrong for
not seeing the proper files and with the info you gave us, we can hardly find
out... If the files are located in the same directory as your WMB and such,
you should see them or you do something wrong...

Are you using some sort of software (uPnP) or using SMB?
try to give complkete info as this does not lead us anywhere...

Well, I have wlan with wep key and a synology disk station DS107.
The avi files are in the video folder on the disk station together with wmv and mpg files. I can acess all movie files with VLC player on my computer but when I access the folder from cs505, I only see the mpg and wmv files in the folder structure on my TV screen. However, in the end the player only plays the mpg files. With some mpg files, I experienced missing audio while with VLC player on my computer the sound is fine for the same file.

Web radio, mp3 music streaming and photo streaming with cs505 working fine for me.

What else do you need to know?

There really can only be few reasons for this...

01 - You are using UpNp software instead of SMB
02 - Security on files / folders prevent the Ziova from reading all files.

Can't think of anything else but this...
Something in your way of using the player is wrong. Can't see what it is from here but it is something so obvious we can't see it appearantly...

Yes Hi-Jack, I was using UpNp software instead of SMB.

Didn't knew that playing avi via UpNP is not possible ...

Is it written somewhere in the user manual?

However, via SMB everything works great.

So, is there a reason for the limitation?

Regards!

Most probably the uPnP software that you are using. Both Twonky and Tversity serve and play AVI's fine.
