Fantastic !!!
I've spend hours setting up channels, but apparently for the last time.

What about the EPG/Channel mapping ? Was that intact as well ?

Thanks a bunch, Mighty Bob, and Hi-Jack.

That, i have not tested.
Will do tomorrow...

Backup, clear it all and put it back
See what happens then...

(I think one can best backup all the files in the systempart...)

backup and restore works like a charm!

i made a backup of all the files inside /systempart/ and restored them after making a full reset. after rebooting the device i had the following results:

channel mapping -> OK!
epg mapping -> OK!
record scheduling -> OK!

many many thanks to dracula for the ftp-server! also many thanks for testing this before i had to!

now someone has to write an offline editor...

Thanks for the proposal...

But now, we only have a stupid technical problem prior to be sure the project can be finished : we are able to modify schedule table ... but the player doesn't that it into account until I reboot it.

Does anyone have an idea how to force the player to refresh all its configurations ???

Thanks

Jeff

PS. Name of the project : mycouch.net .... more news soon

k...
Here's the complete way the KiSS player works with the ChannelList.ch in the systempart folder.

- When the player is powered down, and you power it up, the channellist is being loaded from the ChannelList.ch file, including the EPG ID's.

- When removing the file, as long the player is not rebooted, everything remains working. The channelslist is this stored somewhere in memory.

- When removing this file and reboot the player, there are no channels scanned on the player. Re-Scan will create a new file.

- When anything happens, restoring the backup file will restore all channels including the EPG ID maps.

That's it.
Have fun

No, the file is loaded upon reboot.
As KiSS plans to offer options to schedule recordings from Palm/Intenet
etc... I assume they will amke a time function that reloads these files on
intervals as currently they are loaded on startup.

Opening the file in Hexeditor gives us the ability to see the channels but all
the rest looks like weird signs. Alos opening in Notepad does not really
help Same thing.

It shoild be possible to make some little program to edit the channellist.ch
so we can administer the channels on PC (once scanned), then arrange
them as we wish (faster then KiSS player can offer us) and assign Channel
ID's.

Therefore we first need to find out how the channel ID's and if the Channel
ID's are really stored in this file which i can't really see. My best guess at
the moment is that channel frequencie and ID's are stored in a different
file.

Looking into it.
Might take some time.
Anyone willing to work on a nice project? This is it.
Try to find out
