CS-505 died
My CS-505 has just died. The power light comes on green, the buttons on the front dont respond and all the buttons on the remote seem to do nothing except the standby button which works. I opened the case with the power off, the internal fuse looks OK, none on the capacitors look blown and all the ribbon cables seem pugged in tight. The display is blank even after a few minutes, I did try powering off for the best part of an hour, no joy. What could be wrong, can anyone else think of a way of reviving my CS-505?

I think I may have found an answer. I have tried recovery and all goes well until after the reboot. When I set the wireless network up and the 505 re-boots it then never comes back further than the green power light. Yesterday I did change my WiFi network from WEP security to WPA2 AES and that seems to be the problem. Does anyone know if the 505 likes WPA2?

as far as I know the cs505 does not support and will not support wpa.
I've connected my (2) cs505's via wired 100mb not the network, this improved streaming troughput from my NAS for DVD's.

Thanks n0m0r3. Perhaps I should think about replacing it. As I want wireless (I don`t want to put holes in walls) and WPA/WPA2 would be really nice. Its a little off that the CS-505 should pack up and freeze when I start using WPA don`t you think.

You will not believe this, my cs-505 died on me to yesterday.
the standby button on the remote works, i can power on and off the unit but nothing else works.
The LCD screen does not even show "loading". the eject button does not work but I can hear the CD spinning.
any ideas? should I try a recover CD?
I have not opened uo the device yet so don't know if there is anything damaged.
all help is welcome.

You can recover firmware if the unit still boots by USB and see if that helps...

Hi-Jack,
I've tried this with the 201 and 111 FW but both say "USB Partition integrity failed, error 1"
And they will not up/downgrade.
I've made a recovery USB disk with FW 1.1.1 and this on boots up and I can see the menu but upgrading does not work.
any advise?
btw what about warranty? I've bought this player via MPC.
thanx in advance.

You cannot buy players from or via MPC... You can only buy them from Ziova or resellers affiliated with MPC. How old is? Which was the vendor you acquired it from eventually? That's your point of contact if the warranty is still covered...

Well I did not bought the player directly from MPC but via a buy in, I believe 1,5 years ago.
If I can remember correctly via DIVXplayer.nl? can't remember exactly anymore. --> OEPS wat Planet-shop.eu
So there is no way to fix this?
I already opened a support ticket at the ZIOVA website, is this still active?
